If you are a regular reader here then you know I like to paint pieces more than once and this hutch has certainly been painted its fair share. The darker Lucketts green was nice, but I wanted to lighten it up. So this time I chose Miss Mustard Seed milk paint in Layla's Mint. It is such a pretty color.
I replaced the tiny brass pulls with these over sized wooden knobs that I stained to give it more of a farmhouse look.
I love the way this paint went on in different colorways mainly because I didn't have it mixed well enough. Some of the color ended up yellower and some bluer, but I love the way this turned out.
I decided to change things up on the shelves a bit after giving it the new color.
Soaps are ready to grab from an ironstone bowl.
I wanted to fill this jar with something that added color and I found these cute Kleenex packs at The Dollar Tree. You get three in a pack for a dollar and I actually bought more than would fit. Tissue anyone?
Stack of new white towels.
Large piece of coral found at HomeGoods last year.
Vintage fern prints that were on the tray on the ottoman in the great room line the back of this shelf.
I was inspired by a photo on pinterest to use some of my demijohns on top.
I like how the tissue packs, soaps, and scrubby add just enough pops of color.
I love the fresh new lighter color.
You can see what it looked like before in this post.

There's no question I love the lighter colour better and the wooden knobs add so much charm. The crisp white towels look perfect with the new colour as do the glass demi-johns or dame jeanne!
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty soft color. I haven't seen that one before. Such a cute idea to fill one of the jars with Kleenex travel packs.
ReplyDeleteThe hutch looks great, Kim. I love the name of the paint-how perfect is that! Some of my best paint jobs have been done when I was too lazy to mix the paint completely before starting. lol Can't wait to see the whole room all put together. xo Diana
