And this is the new look. I originally was going to hang the cow blackboard that has been in the guest room, but Mr. Savvy, who really never says much about what I do, said no to the cow.
Oh, okay, well I have also wanted to try hanging my vintage breadboards together and so I did, but not without some advice.
Do you have a friend you can shoot ideas off of? I started texting my friend first with this photo from my phone and asked what she thought? She liked it, but wanted me to switch the right and left boards so I did. Then she wanted to know if I could layer them. Layer them? Wasn't real sure what she meant, but a bit later I thought why not add more?
So after hanging two smaller boards and three of my vintage copper molds it looks like this.
Did you notice another change? Yea, I took this rug out of the sun room and tried it in here. Perfect fit. The yellow chairs have been replaced with the black ones for a bit. I am going to paint the yellow ones.
A small change on the table, too.
I posted a shot of this wall on instagram thinking most would not like it, but I guess I was wrong. Most likes ever on anything I have posted on there.
Have a great week!
Could not love more!!!! I wish I had the wall space to copy!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry! I love your style so I'm glad you approve.
DeleteThat looks great, Kim. I like that it really showcases all of your old bread boards and that you worked some copper in there, too. How funny that Mr.S....voiced his opinion on the cow piece....lol
ReplyDeleteWall space is one thing I don't have here. Living on the water the whole back of my kitchen/dinette is windows with no wall space. I love the view but miss the decorating opportunities sometimes, too.
Diana, we don't have many walls either with this open floor plan and windows across the back to look out at our deck that needs a makeover and our weed filled back yard.
DeleteLove the breadboard wall. I really like a rug in that room also and I believe I like the black chairs over the yellow! What color are you going to paint the yellow chairs/
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday! Another beautiful day here - 70's!!!!
Thanks, tina. I'm not real sure on the color yet.
DeleteThat is so cool!!! Love the bistro feel of it. But then everything you do is exceptional Kim. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteYep, love the boards it's one of my favorite looks so far.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dawn, mine, too.
DeleteYour wall is beautiful Kim. You have such a nice collection of boards and copper molds. What a great way to show them off.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacey.
DeleteOh Kim, I think I love this the best of every way you have had this wall!!! I really love it. The rug looks great there too. Have a beautiful day. We are hoping to get up to 60!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pinky. We got up to 84 today!
DeleteI say Bravo!....Love, love it....and love that you can display your beautiful breadboard in one collective space and add color and texture with those wonderful copper molds....I say this is one of my favorite wall vignettes in the breakfast room....and great idea to add the rug....you shop the house well!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks my friend!
DeleteI love it too! I think whoever gave you the advice to layer it did a great job because it's perfect. I like how it fills that space too. The rug under your table is perfect as well. I love that rug!
ReplyDeleteYes, Shirley helped me with her ideas.
DeleteThis is one of my favorite looks so far, too. And how lucky you are that Mr. S rarely voices his opinion. Himself voices his opinion to me quite a bit. And I've followed his wishes several times in the last (almost) 20 years. But now that we're in our fourth (and I hope final) home, which I adore, I've told him: "Although I will listen to your opinions, this is MY house and I'm doing what I want to do." :-)
ReplyDeleteEllen, he normally doesn't say anything. He lets me decorate the way I want to. He doesn't like the cow.
Deletereally REALLY love this, the copper molds add alot to the mix!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra!
Deletelove!!
ReplyDeletea great way to display the larger bread and baking boards. looks nice and balanced, too.
wish i had the wall space to do such a cool display with mine. changes are always good and love the black chairs there.
Oh Kim, it's awesome. Seriously - your friend helped you create an amazing wall.
DeleteAlso the black chairs are SO much better - wow, they're grounded and look perfect.
Very well done. Love your bread boards - I only have one and we use it so no hanging! Plus I don't have much wall space in kitchen, it's cupboards or windows it seems.
Thanks
DeleteLooks fantastic Kim. So jealous of your breadboard collection!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, took a while to get this collection. Lucked up at the Country Living Fair for some of them.
DeleteWish I hadn't sold all my copper moulds! What color are you painting the yellow chairs? Do share!
ReplyDeleteEllen, I'm not sure yet.
DeleteLove your wall, and especially your bread boards!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLUV!!! I think there is a simplicity to it that is so appealing. Black chairs and the new rug are wonderful changes as well. Hmmm, wonder what rug replaced this one in the sun room?
ReplyDeleteI take up the sunroom rug in the warm months. I did last week as it's been in the 70 and low 80's here already. The coolness from the porcelain tiles is most welcomed!!
Shopping the house.. always a good thing!
Gee, this rug was layered on top of another rug so I the bottom sisal rug is still there. Just lightening up for spring and summer.
Deleteoh! I love love it! Wanna come do my wall?? Sometimes it seems so static....Love bread boards!! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNancy
Oh, this is pretty easy. You can do it.
DeleteLove it Kim! It looks beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOk, Im on the hunt for more bread boards now, to create something similar!! LOL!!
Thanks for the inspiration!!
XO
Glad I inspired you!
DeleteI love the bread board display, perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love it! Looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteKim, I love these changes, and yes, it's always more fun to bounce ideas off of a friend. My sister & I work really well together at the antique booth spaces doing that. The board display with the copper really sings.
ReplyDeleteRita
Thanks, Rita. Sometimes you just need a different set of eyes.
DeleteThis is beautiful, Kim...and a lovely way to share a collection. I bought some lavender a while back, and do you think I can find it? Time to clean out, I guess lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, Linda, that sounds like me not knowing where things are. I'm so unorganized.
DeleteOh Kim just looooove! Your collection of bread boards is so awesome and to be able to display them for a focal point on your breakfast area wall is fantastic. You rocked it out with this one girl.
ReplyDeleteKris
Thanks, Kris!
DeleteLove the new look, but oh how I love the yellow chairs..... yellow always makes me smile, but I know all about changing colors, we have painted our furniture all kinds of colors and the best part is if you don't like it you paint it again and again, and again....LOL, love your blog..... Blessings Curtis & Sherrie.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's the beauty of paint.
DeleteYour breadboard wall is a favorite of mine...Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Mine too, Mary Alice.
DeleteLove the breadboards - they look really good. I like the change.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Mary
Thanks, Mary.
DeleteIt must be wonderful to have such a knack for changing things up. I loved the old look and love the new look, too. I'm wondering, with all your wonderful updates, do you fill and paint over the old holes in the wall before hanging something new each time? Spackle and touch up paint are my friends, but I don't change things around on my walls very often. I thought you might have a savvy new tip for that. :)
ReplyDeleteLaurel, yes spackle is my friend!
DeleteAlthough I love those hay rakes, really love them.... I love the boards as much or more. I'm partial to the style of your yellow chairs but have to admit I have a soft spot for black... Everything you do always turns out so pretty, Kim.
ReplyDeleteHello Kim! I think it is quite a refreshing look. Love the way you arranged these boards with flair! Now, I have a question; What did you use to hang them up? Like you, I am always moving things around, changing items from room to room, etc...and doing so without making a real mess with the walls is a real task for me. Also, What paint color/brand did you choose for your chairs? This black is gorgeous; not too shiny/not too flat. I am always in awe of your decorating projects. I show my hubby all the time and share that I am not the only one re-arranging and repurposing! HA - it's so fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jem. I just used nails and I have twine through the holes on the handles and looped those over the nails. I painted those chairs sooooo long ago and I believe I spray painted them and then sanded a bit off to the original teal color underneath.
DeleteGot it, Kim! Thanks for the info and really do like this look. Good ideas for me to bring home.
DeleteIt looks great Kim. Really love it!
ReplyDeleteI really like the bread boards and the way you have arranged them! And I know what you mean about keeping the hubby happy. Mr Grand rarely objects to an idea, but when he does, I always listen. And things unusually work out! Thanks for sharing the gallery.
ReplyDeleteI think that is my most favorite thing you have ever hung on that wall! Love the look of all of them together! Bonus, you can still easily use them if you want! Btw- I love the black chairs around the table! I like the style of the yellow ones, but the yellow didn't seem to play nice with the wall color. I can't wait to see what color you paint them!
ReplyDeleteI love it. It adds such a nice note of warmth to the room... :-)
ReplyDeleteI was one of those that loved your breadboard wall on Instagram! You are golden no matter what you touch! I love the black chairs in there, but I love those yellow chairs as yellow! I hope you don't get around to painting them anytime soon, ha! Can't wait to see the bathroom. It will no doubt be magic too. Lori Lucas
ReplyDeleteKim, this was a terrific idea. The bread boards make a great statement grouped together. I like the addition of the copper molds too. You have a wonderful collection of bread boards.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you touch turns to "perfect".
ReplyDeletejust as soon as I get use to something you and shirley have to "talk" and switch it all up. ha. love this look. fills that wall nicely.
ReplyDeleteThis was already one of my favourite rooms in your home, and now with the new gallery wall exhibiting these lovely vintage bread boards, it remains so! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeletePoppy
Wow what a beautiful collection Kim! You displayed it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteLove the wall. Miss the yellow chairs but I'm sure you will do something fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThe boards look great hanging on the wall!
ReplyDeleteLove the bread boards on your wall...it looks great!!
