The wall above the sofa in the sitting room is probably the most changed wall in my house. It has transformed many times over the last five years of blogging. I'm always tweaking it till I get it just right. I love the gallery wall I created a few years ago, but I have always wanted to add two sconces over the sofa to add more of a library feel.
I found these sconces on my trip to Franklin, Tennessee in December. Can you believe I still haven't shown y'all everything I bought? I think this is it or maybe not.
I knew when I spotted these they would be perfect in here. I love the aged brass and the alligator shades.
But for weeks it looked like this. Not very pretty with those cords dangling.
I found these brass cord covers on line and figured they would probably be just what they needed. Now they have a finished look. It's all in the details.
I also bought the matching little table lamp to use on the vaisselier.
Here is an old photo of the way the gallery wall looked for a few years.
Then I replaced the two dog prints that had faded terribly with these wall brackets.
And now the sconces.
The bench has been moved back to the guest room since I liked it better there and I brought back the original table that was here. I am going to paint it soon. Well, as soon as I finish other projects that are going on.
I like the new look with the sconces. How about you?
I have been going through my old posts making sure I have attached labels and I came across the very first time I shared this room in March 2010. So if you want to see what this room looked like the first time I shared it you can see it Here.
It's come along way, baby!
Have an awesome week!

It is all in the details, Kim and yours is just gorgeous. I do love the leather sconces. I think they bring the perfect amount of modern chic to french country.
ReplyDeleteand I like the bench there better than the table and I love my tables.
ReplyDeleteAngela, I loved the look of the bench, but it was actually too low. It set below the sofa cushions and looked dwarfed. I may find something different in the future, but for now it is the antique drum table. The bench just suits the end of the bed better.

DeleteEvery time I read one of your posts, I say "now that's perfect." Then you make a change, and again I say, "now that's perfect." And then you make another change....you get the gist! Your rooms just keep changing and becoming even more beautiful! Love the new sconces - they are perfect, lol! Jane
ReplyDeleteHey Kim!
ReplyDeleteThis is just such a warm, inviting room! Makes you want to curl up on the couch with a good book. I love the sconces and didn't know there were cord covers like that. Your wall looks great!

Beautiful change, Kim ... love your new sconces!
ReplyDeleteLove the sconces and the matching lamp. Great finds.
ReplyDeleteI love the new look! I'm a huge fan of sconces. Are you going to keep your lamp next to the sofa too?
ReplyDeleteYes, that is needed in that dark corner.
DeleteI love those sconces and LOVE the maching lamp. The shades are fabulous too. Your changes are always great!!!
ReplyDeleteWow Kim! Ths room has really evolved over the past 5 years! It's such a warm room. The new sconces are fabulous! Love all the equestrian prints. it's wonderful the way you continuously make little tweaks here and there to give the room a completely different look and feel. It's very elegant and reminds me of how a room in an English manor would look. love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of the gallery wall...I love sconces and you found the perfect ones for the room...and so glad you bought that lamp too!....
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the wall sconces. And visable cords drive me nuts too.
ReplyDeleteI would be honered if you stopped by my blog and joined our Something to Talk About link party. But no pressure :)

Oh, I love those sconces! Can you tell us the maker or store?
ReplyDeleteMartha, they came from a shop on main street in Franklin, Tn. and I don't remember the name of the store. These were hanging on the wall right when you walk in. There was no maker's name on the boxes. Just made in India.
DeleteThe sconces and the lamp are great additions to the room, and I have enjoyed watching it evolve over the past few years. It's such a warm, comfortable room with lots of STYLE!
ReplyDeleteYour new sconces are perfect for the wall. Love the lamp shades and little table lamp, too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice touch!!! I want to do something like this for my daughter…but on a really tight budget. Good tip about the cord covers.
ReplyDeleteThe sconces are perfect for your gallery wall! Brilliant find - it all looks meant to be!

They look great! I noticed the cord covers right away - - and thought what a nice detail they are to hide the cords... Then I read that you purchased them separately - smart!! I love all of your equestrian touches too. Our house was built as an equestrian property - so there are fun little touches - like horse hooks, a door knocker and horse weather vane on the barn. I was so happy they were left for us to enjoy. :) Thank you for sharing your lovely room! ~julie
ReplyDeleteA little change will do you good, I always say! Of course, the hubby is always worried that he will stumble in the night with all the parade of furniture in our home. I like your style and the tip on the cord covers since I have a pet peeve about cords! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh I really like those lights! The color of that brass is beautiful, and the alligator shades are a real touch of class! LOVE IT:)
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I've only been following the blog for a few months. But I love your style. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us Kim.
ReplyDeleteKim, I love those scones & especially love the black shades. I've been finding myself drawn to the black shades in rooms, & would love to paint my shades black. Can you mix white & black shades in a room or should they all be black or all white?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Do you think all black shades in a room or can you mix shades?
ReplyDeleteKaren, I am not a professional, but I have black and light colored shades mixed in my rooms. I think if the space is large enough and they aren't right next to each other they can work.
DeleteBeautiful Kim and I absolutely agree!
ReplyDeleteI love the new sconces. You are right it is all in the details! Great find!
ReplyDeleteYes, those sconces are really sharp. I love black accents - so classy and classic.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did Kim...I am coveting those black forest antlers!!
ReplyDeleteThe new sconces look fantastic - and truly give the room a "library-esque" feeling. Like another commenter, I also liked the bench, but if it was too low then you needed to move it. Life isn't a photo shoot, and you have to make a room work. The table looks good, too.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Michelle from simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com
The devil is in the details!! Love these, the cord cover gives it a nice finished look. The lamp looks great against that lovely wood. Great purchases!
