Yesterday I shared the brass lamp base sporting its new look and how I had it placed on the buffet in the dining room. All I had was the marble lamp, a vegetable dish and the lamp base on there. Well, I wish I could turn my mind off sometimes. After looking at those three on the buffet it just looked sort of blah to me so after changing up what was on the dining room table I decided to use some of those things on the buffet instead of putting them away and this is what I ended up with.
So what do you think? This or the before?
Are you the creative type who can't stop thinking and tweaking?
Post edit: I took some advice and placed the books under the lamp.

I hope to see y'all tonight at Wow Us Wednesdays especially if you are one of those creative types.
:)
I like the simplicity of the before. I feel there is too many small things there now and with the antlers, the I ture and the plates on the wall just too much for the eye to take in.
ReplyDeleteBOTH. I love anything you do, Kim. Your busy, creative mind is always coming up with MORE good. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteSince you're asking, I love the after, but I'd place some of the items on a tray. I absolutely love the lamp base transformation, it really is beautiful! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI l liked the before, except I think I would try the books as a base to set the lamp on - seems a little height was needed on the L.The figurines seem to take away from that cool print.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Rita. Thanks
DeleteHi Kim!
ReplyDeleteI like the second, it looks "finished". I often figure out decorating slumps when I am sleeping. It will drive me nuts until I get it exactly right. It looks great!

Definitely the after Kim. I like the more interesting composition on top of your buffet and one of my favorite things is to see books used in decor throughout a home. I like your little cow creamer and pretty figurine. It's funny but once the ideas start flowing, its not that easy to turn off a creative mind. ( Nor shoud you want to!)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Kim!
XO Barbara
I think I like the new style better, its got more pretty things to look at! But it was beautiful before too! The art is so whimsical and fun! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm a tweaker too - it's fun to mix things up every now and then. I love both looks you created!
ReplyDeleteAFTER. Much more interest now!
ReplyDeleteHey that's what my hubby says to me when he's reading the honey do list!! Your mind never stops!
ReplyDeleteLove all the changes!
Lol, I know what you mean. Or you start the snowball effect where one tweak leads to another to another. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the additions to the buffet...it looks more finished.
Yes...better....more is more!....but an active mind is a good mind!
ReplyDeleteI like this, love all the blues! Yes, my mind is always going too. I woke up at 5:50 and couldn't get back to sleep cause my mind wouldn't be quiet!
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean about the mind always going and spinning! Sometimes is spins so fast it keeps me up! the buffet looks great!
ReplyDeleteThis one!
ReplyDeleteWell I love it! I'm the same way, always changing/fixing/tweaking. It drives my poor husband nuts!
ReplyDeleteLove the 'after'. Beautiful items that work together great!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great -- as always! Things move around here all the time. When I first got married my husband would comment on it, after 15 years he just keeps quiet! lol
ReplyDeleteWell, since you asked...I like the original one better. Simpler is always better in my book...perhaps if you used a tray to corral the littles, and the books to elevate the lamp, it wouldn't look so cluttered. But, that being said...it is your home...and I love your decorating style! ;)
ReplyDeletelove all the wonderful blues coordinated, the covered vegetable/tureen is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe standing books bug me. Can you lay them down and put the cow creamer on top of them?
ReplyDeleteIt's too busy with the framed picture...less is always more!
ReplyDeleteI like the addition of the gold books and the figurine next to the lamp base you just redid, but would remove the cow creamer- too similar to the serving piece in the center. Also, one of the golden rules of decorating which I believe works---odd numbers for displaying accents (unless you want a very symmetrical look)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your suggestions, Joanne. I know all too well about working in odd numbers. The art above the chest also counts as part of the vignette :)
DeleteI am right along with you Kim! My mind is filled with hundreds of ideas. I write them down and only wish I had time to do a tenth of them. So love the touches of blue in your vignette!
ReplyDeleteI like both but I would have placed books underneath to vary the height. Nerve of me given you advice
ReplyDeleteCindy
I actually did put the books under the lp after Rita suggested it.
DeleteI'm so glad your mind never stops!! I absolutely love everything that comes out of your beautiful gifted mind.
ReplyDeleteBoth styles are beautiful. The new style is may be more interesting with more pretty things to look at!!
Thanks for sharing and for always inspire me!! :)
XOXO
I know, my mind is always working........makes me tired!! I think you need some softness in there, like flowers or a plant in the casserole with the lid off to the side. Too many small things on there, remove the cow creamer..........I feel so inept giving you advice......you always make things so lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the bottom picture with the lamp on the books. Of course, they are all pretty, but that one is my favorite! I wouldn't remove anything!
ReplyDeleteYep- books underneath the lamp was a great idea. I liked it both ways, Kim. I think it is "homier" the way it is now. I sure do love the way that base turned out. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWell as long as your mind never stops we have something to entertain us :) It's always lovely whatever you do :)
ReplyDeleteLove the buffet! Can I ask what color/colors/paint you used?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Jerry, this piece has been painted several times. You are a no reply comment blogger so I can't send you the links to a couple times I painted the piece. Here are the links that you can look up.

DeleteI'm for the additions. The extra pieces really make all the blues pop out.
