I have been slowly making some changes in the French style guestroom over the last couple of months. It all started with new checked pillows in a beautiful French blue that I found on One Kings Lane. When I saw the photo on OKL the pillows were a small check, but when they arrived I realized that they were not what I ordered, but I kept them anyway. I hate sending stuff back.
The new blue checked pillows prompted me to buy the white quilt to go along with the euro shams I already had, but wasn't using. I had originally bought them for my room, but they were just too white. Having four beds I kept them anyway since I knew I would use them somewhere. I have a slight thing for pretty bedding. wink
This is the tattered quilt I shared the other day. I love these old quilts and when the price is right they come home with me.
The colors in this quilt are perfect with the new checked pillows and white bedding and the flowers certainly say spring.
I picked up a pair of vintage pillow cases with these sweet embroidered flowers when I was in Franklin after Christmas. I wish y'all could feel how soft these are.
I replaced the buffalo checked bed skirt with a white linen one I found at the Pottery Barn outlet. The checked one will be used in the bonus room when I get that room painted.
I decided to try this bench here since it has the chippy blue paint.
In the corner I added some pink flowers that repeat the pink in the quilt.
I'm still loving the two very old paintings I found last year antiquing.
Oh, and don't even think this is the only bedroom that got a new look.
More coming soon.
:)
You can see how this room looked the first time with the upholstered bed here.
Have a beautiful week!

The room looks great. I wouldn't mind being a guest there (wink*). I really like the bench at the end of the bed. The colors tie in well with the vintage quilt. Also, when I am a guest, I like to have a small surface where I can set things. As usual, you did a nice job.

ReplyDeleteI love it.The checks get me every time paired with crisp white! This morning YOU made ME laugh....I think you said you have a "slight thing for pretty bedding"...ummm....does an alcoholic like his bottle? You DO have a "slight thing" but you use it quite beautifully...and you don't keep it stashed in a closet and never use it, either. You rotate stuff around...some people never do that.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day. xo Diana
ps. That old quilt is JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
I don't remember ever seeing you decorate with this shade of blue Kim, it's a beautiful color and looks great in the guest room.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I bought a white quilt for our bed too. And I also thought it looked too white. And I'm also keeping it anyway because I hate returning things. I need pillows, so I better go to OKL and see what they've got.
