After finishing the guest bath makeover, of course I had to make some simple changes in the guestroom, too. I had grown tired of the cow blackboard that hung over the bed. I wanted something fresh. I didn't even know what I wanted, but figured when I found it I would know. I hunted on Joss & Main first since I had some credits to use and didn't really want to spend more money if I didn't have to. I lucked up and found the perfect piece! I shared it with y'all a few weeks ago, but didn't tell you which room it was going in.
So come on in and see the updates.
So come on in and see the updates.
Y'all know I love color and this psychedelic cow certainly fits the bill! By using my credits on Joss & Main I only had to pay 90 cents for this giant piece! Now that's my kind of bargain.
I ordered these black striped pillow covers from H & M to use in the sun room, but they are just too perfect here with the cow plus the black and white ties in with the floor in the bathroom and the cow painting above the bed.
I added my red ticking pillow and then this fabulous vintage German grain sack pillow in front.
I found each of these pillows at different times and over time and I love how they all work together.
Behind those are the sleeping pillows in vintage cases and two Pottery Barn sham pillows in front.
I need to get some castor wheels to add to the bottom of the trunk to raise it up. In the meantime I have used this old suitcase to raise up the Ikea lamp.
The other side of the bed.
I placed this large French market basket at the foot of the bed filled with vintage quilts.
The guest can toss the pillows off the bed into this basket.
One of my two hay forks that hung in the breakfast room now leans in this spot. A colorful feed sack pillow sits on a painted chair I had stored away.
Oh, and did you notice I replaced the red checked curtains with neutral ones from Pottery Barn? I know many of y'all love the red checked curtains, but I still have them in two other rooms. I wanted less busy on the windows in here so the accessories pop.
This weekend we will have our first guests. My son can't wait to break in the new bathroom.
Have an awesome week!

Love that big basket at the end of the bed! Wood floors would look great in this room!
ReplyDeleteYes, they would look good on the stairs and upstairs. Not in the budget anytime soon.
DeleteI love the large cow print over the bed! It's like it was made for that room. I also like the hay rack leaning against the red armoire. Love your new german grain sack pillow. I just treated myself to one (from QOH) and have yet to share it. So excited for you to have Ryan come home for Mother's Day. Such a gift!

ReplyDeleteThe basket of quilts is a beautiful and charming touch. I love using old quilts and find they work much better than heavy comforters. Enjoy your company!

What a fabulous room, Kim! I'm dismantling our guest room this week (although I haven't done much in there) because it is going to become my studio for the time being. We don't intend to have guests through summer so hopefully we'll get an outbuilding built before then. So, what are your rates? :)
ReplyDeleteA charming little retreat of a room! I'm sure your son and guests will feel so welcome and comfortable. Love all your farmhouse touches!! ~julie
ReplyDeleteI love how the black and white pillows go with the black and white of the cow. Also, I like that the red ticking in the guest bedroom ties in with the red ticking shower curtain in the adjacent bathroom. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Michelle from simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com
Love it all Kim! It all came together just perfect!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is Bessie the cow!
ReplyDeleteKim love the pops of red and that wardrobe is fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's just gorgeous - I love that wardrobe - and the black and white striped pillows - I need them !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on all of it
Wow is right! That is "some cow" alright! A very fortunate find! The large red closet or---can't think what they are called---is beautiful, too. I am not a "red person" either in my decor nor my wardrobe, but your guest room has used the color very creatively and tastefully. If I were a guest, I'm sure I would be very happy and comfortable inhabiting it. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, "wardrobe"! It came to me after I'd clicked the Publish button of course!
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous, Kim! The cow picture is so cheerful -it's a great touch. All of the pillows are great, too. How nice that your son will be the first to stay in the refurbished room!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous room Kim!!! So bright and cheery and farmhouse!!! LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteThe red touches throughout the room make a happy cosy bedroom.
