After painting and moving the chippy cabinet to the guest room that left the top of the sideboard in the great room with a big blank spot. No problem, I knew just what I wanted to place there since I just bought this big concrete urn last weekend. Yes, the urn is normally used in the garden, but I love having this piece inside. It's good to bring the outdoors in.
I placed the urn in front of one of my vintage breadboards. This is the one I purchased in Asheville and it was only $40. I haven't ever paid that little for a vintage breadboard.
I love the way the green ivy looks spilling out over the urn.
This stack of old books with a pair of old binoculars sits next to the urn for more added texture and color.
I'm sure I will have fun moving (well, Mr. Savvy will since this thing is crazy heavy) this to other locations and filling it with different things.
Have a great week!

Love your urn KIm, I'm looking for something similar to use as a door stop.
ReplyDeleteKim, your creativity in combining different textures into your decorating is lovely. Often it is the simplest details that you have used that add such beauty to your home.

Looking good! I've always loved urns..
ReplyDeleteI love the urn and think it works perfectly in the house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great urn. It looks wonderful where you placed it.
ReplyDeleteThe ivy and the old urn are a perfect match.
ReplyDeleteI have a thing for urns, cements, or iron there is always a place for one right Kim?
ReplyDeleteYours looks fabulous, and that entry sideboard forever changing gets better with each piece you inspire it with.... Love the look, but who wouldn't ?

Love garden elements indoors! I do the same; I even use garden statues! :)
ReplyDeleteThe urn looks gorgeous there!
Love this chippy piece, inside or out, Kim It looks gorgeous sitting there on your sideboard, and all the details together make a stunning vignette. One word of caution though, and I offer this from personal experience ~ concrete and pottery are porous and can leave unwanted white spots on the table top. ;-( Believe me, it can happen even when you think you are careful.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if you have some protection so it doesn't scratch, but you may want to elevate it on sometype of riser to keep it well off the top of the chest.
Love the old urns. I have two that were my mom's (she was an avid antiquer!) and they are on either side of the arbor leading off our patio. They are the same style but "squattier" and bigger around. Right now they are filled with ivy and pink begonias. Something about ivy in an urn. Looks great on your sideboard.
ReplyDeleteYour urn is fabulous, Kim! I love using them inside where they become a great focal point.

I really enjoy bringing elements of the outside in. The urn looks fantastic! You are so brave to move things around as frequently as you do. Sometimes, I worry about moving things. Will I "ruin" a good vignette with something that isn't as pleasing? However, you are inspiring me to have more courage and let my creativity shine. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE it... Couldnt be a better combo than a chippy urn and ivy....I had planned to bring mine indoors, also. What did you use on the bottom to protect the furniture?
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! The urn is gorgeous and it looks fantastic in your buffet in the great room!
ReplyDeleteLove that fabulous urn!....and great deal on the breadboard!....yes, the hubbies do come in handy moving those heavy things for us on a whim!...they are keepers!
