Before I started blogging I may have painted a couple pieces of furniture with latex paint. There wasn't any chalk paint and I didn't know about distressed furniture, but boy once I picked up a paint brush and transformed my first piece with chalk paint and then milk paint there was no stopping me.
I have painted several pieces in my house and not just furniture. Some pieces just may have been painted more than once. Here are a few of things I have taken a paint brush to over the last six years.
You can click on the links for more info on each piece.
Chateau Gray sideboard May 2011.
Aged Medallion with tutorial August 2011.
French bench makeover October 2011.
Layered paints plate shelf April 2012.
Then it was painted again in September 2012.
This hutch is one of those pieces that has been painted several times, but the way it is now is my favorite look. Hutch in master bath 2015.
There are more, but we will stop here.
I hope these inspire you to look at a piece in your home in a different way and get out those paint brushes.
Have a fabulous weekend!
What lovely pieces you have! and the colors and details make them just that much more special. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteHI Kimmie! You really are something with your paintbrush. My favorite is your sideboard. It's just gorgeous. Hope you're doing well.

You certainly have some beautiful painted pieces and you transform them so beautifully...Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece is the first one with the fabric insets...love it!
ReplyDeleteA paintbrush is like a magic wand in your hand! LOVE the way you paint!
ReplyDeleteKim, I find your painted pieces so inspiring! This is one of those things I've been thinking about for a while, been intimidated to try, but know once I get on it, I'll likely be the same way - totally hooked. I do have a painting background from art school, so I shouldn't be so intimidated, but I think it's the expense of the "canvas" that worries me. I do have a tendency to walk around the house with gold paint and gild everything in sight, so I expect chalk paint would be the same. Thanks for posting these most inspiring pieces. I really love your technique and have read many of these posts several times. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteWay way back in the seventies I may have antiqued several pieces of furniture! Ha! Those are long gone now...but I kind of wish I had a couple of them. I wonder if they still make antiquing kits like they used to? Hmmm. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your pieces!
Sheila

You're a great painter, Kim! If your readers are intimidated to try it them selves, I encourage them to take a class. It's fun, hands-on and inspiring.

You do such an amazing job with painting.
ReplyDeleteI just bought another brand of blue chalk paint to add to some ASCP Pure White. I really do prefer Annie Sloan to others I have tried. Now I just need to make the time to paint.
I love your buffet with the fabric, and have always wondered how you did that:) That was brilliant!
