Fall is definitely in the air. It's the time of year when fall festivals, fairs and antique shows are taking place. I went to an antique fair on Friday that takes place the third weekend of each month and then on Saturday went to an annual European market sale that shuts down a street with a huge tent set up where you can shop plus smaller tents lining the street like an open market. I didn't find anything at the annual fair, but I did at the monthly antique fair.
Isn't it cool? It's an old trapper's basket.
When I found it I looked at it and studied it and thought about it and then walked off. Well, it was one of those things that kept gnawing at me so I had to go back and look at it again.
Of course I won't be going hunting with it, but I do have decorating ideas for it. As you can see it needs a good cleaning.
I love that it is tall and narrow. I picture it being filled seasonally with branches, leaves, flowers, greenery. etc. It could also hold throws next to a chair. So many uses.
That basket is really fantastic. Glad you went back to get it!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you use your new find!
ReplyDeleteWe are heading back home from a beach trip, time to get back to the real world :(
Blessings,
Cindy

ReplyDeleteKim your basket it soooo great. I just love the shabbiness of it. I'll bet it has a history. Enjoy your day. Jo
ReplyDeleteWe have a pack basket similar. It belonged to a friend. We bought it at their sale when they moved to town. He began using the basket for it's intended purpose around 1940 and it was old then. So it is older than 75 years. Ralph passed away a few years ago. The basket brings fond memories.
ReplyDeleteLove that old trappers basket and now am waiting for pictures to see what you are using it for!! lol
ReplyDeleteI like it!

Love that trappers basket! I know you shared a peak of it with me, but I'm looking forward to seeing a better picture of it in your room. I have a weakness for baskets too. I went to the Suwannee Days Festival today and got a pretty pillow. Imagine that!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great basket, glad you went for it!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket! Where is the monthly antique fair located? Is it Scot's in Atlanta?
ReplyDeleteScott's is the second weekend of the month. This was Lakewood 400 which is the weekend after Scott's and much closer to me.
