No, I haven't jumped into decorating my trees or any Christmas decor yet, but I thought I would share some of my past Christmas decor from time to time this month to give y'all some new ideas and inspiration. A few years ago I decided to lose the large hard to decorate tree and go to a tabletop tree for our main tree and an even smaller tree in the sun room. These are so easy to put up, decorate and then take down and I'm all about easy these days.

No decorating here till after Thanksgiving. We went to a Christmas Open House this weekend and I did purchase some greenery w/bows to place on outside lights/light pole. I'm tired of the wreaths on every window look. Got an idea at the open house for my mantle greenery and found some ribbon for that yesterday. So I'm thinking about it and planning! Also looked at trees yesterday. We went to smaller trees a few years also. I have two very lush, full table top trees we use and then one larger (taller) tree, but it's still a small tree. Would kind of like one a little bit bigger, but didn't see anything. We always do a tree in the sunroom, the great room and our bedroom. May put the larger tree in our bedroom this year, in front of the window. We'll see!

ReplyDeleteOh, how I would love to switch to a tabletop tree instead of the 9ft beast I usually decorate. I did get everyone on board with a 7.5 prelit tree, so I guess that is a step in the right direction!

ReplyDeleteI have been doing smaller tabletop trees for several years now and love how much easier they are to put up, decorate and take down especially since we are empty nesters. I love your table top tree in the olive bucket and did something similar last year. I also like the idea of using old ladders and decorating them with lights, garland, stockings, etc. and thought about doing something like that one year on our screen porch.
We are going to my husbands family for Thanksgiving and although I haven't started decorating yet for Christmas, I have started going through some of my storage tubs and selecting what things I will be using. I really picked up some great vintage items this past year at different shows and always do several vintage vignettes for Christmas.
This year I am doing something on my upstairs foyer table using vintage hat boxes and a beautiful vintage turquoise hat and stand. I also will be using a vintage little girls white fur hand muffler (remember those?) and matching white coat from the early 60's along with some vintage mercury glass.
I rarely do any Black Friday shopping as I cant handle the crowds anymore, so I always use that Friday to start my decorating.
I don't do Black Friday shopping either and start my decorating.
DeleteTabletop trees are so cute. They are small enough, that with little expense, you can change up your decorations from year to year.
ReplyDeleteI did put some "winter" on my front porch but haven't started decorating for Christmas. It's a little early for me. The stores are certainly fully decked out. Time to start buying gifts before it creates a rush. I like to pick with care and thought for everyone.
Yes, they are cute and so easy. I change mine up a bit each year, too. Gosh some stores started before July 4th. Just crazy.
DeleteI too have switched to tabletop trees. I am older (62) and the thought of doing that giant tree a few years ago made me sad so now I have a few tabletop trees and I love them. I like that I can decorate each one differently. Look forward to seeing yours this year.

DeleteI am doing the exact same thing, out with the big tree in with some smaller scale ones, been doing this for about 2 years now. I put a little 2 ft in the kitchen and also the Den, other trees look about same size as yours.I love doing this, I am 77, and big trees became too hard for me.. this is the first time I have commented on any of the sites, do love your style, we are similar in tastes, so thank you for what you share, I read your blog faithfully; even drag you into your own folder, lol

DeleteI am 67 and it just was too much to decorate my big tree so,like you i bought me a smaller one. As i was shopping in 2014 found 2 of the prettiest little trees about 24in. and they are so much fun to decorate differently and there is no stooping or stretching. Now i have 3 trees and i love them all.

DeleteWe have a small tree now for the third year...and I really look forward to decorating it. It's mostly white porcelain angels (Margaret Furlong) with my mom's old pearls and crystals from an old chandelier. Then in my big dough bowl I put all my colorful (Christopher Radko) ornaments that we've enjoyed for many years. Now I have more fun decorating! Getting older is actually getting smarter...

ReplyDeleteYour tabletop trees are all lovely, Kim. I like using smaller trees in our bedroom, bathroom and basement tv room but often don't photograph them because it gets dark so early and some of the rooms are really hard to photograph. I will have to work on that.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog and really enjoyed this post. I pinned many of the trees as I really like how simply they are decorated. While I can't go to the table top tree yet as my youngest of 6 is only 17, I plan to when he graduates from college. I did go to a thinner large tree the past few years and love it. These are beautiful, thanks so much for posting this.

ReplyDeleteI have some of these on my Pinterest board. I usually put up at least two small trees along with the large slim line one in the sunroom. Not certain what I will do this year. Not the least bit motivated as yet. Still savoring November. '-)

DeleteI have a couple of small tabletop trees in a couple of rooms Don't know if I could give up the big tree permanently though. I will be decorating on Thanksgiving Day this year. We are doing Thanksgiving on Wednesday night so the rest of the family an go to the Packer game. No way am I siting out in the cold..no-ma'am...I will be inside with the fireplace going and boxes of mistletoe and greenery hanging off my head!

Kim, all your trees are so pretty; I especially like the one with the stockings and the one with the red-checked ribbon. I switched to a table-top tree a while back which allowed me to focus on my favorite ornaments and which made clean up after Christmas just a tiny bit easier.
ReplyDeleteLove your trees! Besides not having much space (apt) I think my back is grateful that I've switched to smaller trees. :) I used a white one last year with silver & gold ornaments/decor. I'm back to a green tree this year...just more like Christmas to me! I love having a tiny one in my bedroom ~ relaxing with all the lights off, just the tree lights, makes me so happy.
