Five Most Viewed Posts of 2016

Happy New Year's eve!! Are you going out to ring in the new year or just hanging at home? We usually stay home, but this year we are going out with friends. Whatever you do stay safe.
Today I'm sharing my five most viewed posts of 2016. I was surprised about the number two most viewed. I'm starting with number five and you can click on the links to see the full post.

Makeovers of 2016

At the end of the year it's a good time to reflect back on what was accomplished. There were a few projects in our home accomplished in 2016 and there were a few that I hoped would get done, but didn't. That's alright maybe 2017 will be the year for those.
Today I'm sharing some of the projects and you can click the highlighted links to see the full posts.

The sun room was lightened and brightened last January with a fresh coat of paint.

Wow Us Wednesdays #306

Welcome to the last Wow Us Wednesdays for 2016! I hope y'all had a fabulous Christmas with family and friends. Can you believe another one is over? It all goes by so quickly. Heck, this year went by quickly! All my Christmas decor has been put away and now I need my creative juices to start flowing again because right now I'm in some sort of funk.

Let's look at some features from last week that I chose to help ring in the new year.

Here's a cute idea for your own DIY party coasters by Petticoat Junktion.

Christmas Breakfast Table

Can y'all believe that tomorrow is Christmas?!  My son and his family arrived yesterday so I have a house full. Today I will be making dishes ahead for tomorrow morning and one to take to my brother's house tonight for our family Christmas gathering. Today I'm sharing the table and counter that are set for Christmas breakfast and ready to be surrounded with family.

The Christmas Master with Black Accents

I started not to decorate the master bedroom for Christmas, but I always do so I added just a few things. The first thing you will notice is that Mango the cow has moved to the master and I'm really loving it over our bed. The pastoral that hung here moved to the breakfast room in place of the breadboards gallery wall that no longer fit with the new trim added in there.

French Country Christmas Dining Room

Last month I shared my dining room table set as part of Styled and Set Tour, but that table setting didn't last long since the kitchen makeover was starting along with lots of dust. So I unset the table and put everything away except for the centerpiece. To add a bit more Christmas to the room I decorated the hutch with just a few things.

Wow Us Wednesdays #305

Welcome to our last party before Christmas arrives. Wow, we're on the final countdown! I finally finished wrapping the gifts yesterday and now I'm getting the house ready for my son, daughter in law, and the grands to arrive on Friday. That means undecorating a bit. Yes, to be on the safe side I put some things away......just in case. 😉

Wishing each one of you a very Merry Christmas!

The features are the most viewed links from last week and a sweet treat.

I love this grand tree which is just part of a Christmas home tour at Housepitality Designs.

My New Kitchen For Christmas

Yesterday I shared the French country breakfast room and a peek at the fancy crown molding that was added at the ceiling which of course goes all the way around the kitchen, too. We had no idea how that was going to look until the carpenters started installing it. Let me just say, wow, what a difference that made! Today I'm sharing my new kitchen that is ready for Christmas. I will share the deets on the kitchen transformation at a later time. This week the kitchen will become quite busy with cookie baking and then prepping and cooking for the family next weekend. I'm sure it will be the same for many of you as well. It's very hard to get good photos in here this time of year. The light pours in and creates shadows and then the rest of the day very little light comes in and the room is dark.

French Country Christmas Breakfast Room

A little French, a little rustic and a little Christmas in the breakfast room. I just put together a few things to create a Christmasy vignette on my vintage French farm table. Next weekend this table will be set and surrounded with family and a big Christmas breakfast.

French Country Christmas Foyer

I know I keep saying my decorating is simple this year and the foyer is no different. The foyer or entry should set the tone for the rest of the house and mine surely does.

A French Style Christmas Bedroom

Pretty blues and whites with touches of Christmas decor and a French flair welcome guests.

Come on in!

Christmas Farmhouse Style Sunroom

My favorite room to decorate for Christmas, besides the cabin style guest room I did this year, is my sun room. This is my room a.k.a. hangout and it's the room I can let loose in with the decor. That means more color, pattern and whimsy. So get comfy because I have lots of pictures to share.

A vintage grocery basket is filled with colorful ornaments that weren't hung on a tree this year.

Wow Us Wednesdays #304

Well, the countdown to Christmas is getting a lot shorter. Are you ready? Gifts bought? Wrapped? Decorating done? Cookies made? I have the decorating done, most gifts bought and I wrapped some today. No baking yet and not sure I will be baking....maybe.
There were lots of beautiful Christmas links shared last week and instead of me choosing what to feature I am sharing three of the most viewed links plus a sweet treat since it was all Christmas decor that was the most viewed.

Pam's home is so pretty and cozy and she has some wonderful collections.

Christmas Great Room with New Arrangement

Last week I shared the tree and mantel so today it's all about the Christmas decor and the new furniture arrangement in the great room that had to take place in order for the tree to sit by the fireplace.

Woodland Winter Christmas Porch

On Friday I shared my new wreath on the front porch and as beautiful as it is it just isn't enough. So what do you do when you are not sure how to decorate the front porch? I thought I was going to go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's and get a couple more trees to go with the one I have and just group them together and call it a day. Well, neither store had those trees so then I was stumped. So I walked out of Hobby Lobby and right next door is a flea market I go to so I figured I could walk through it and maybe get inspired by something. Bingo! There was the start of my inspiration when I spotted this cute chair in a fun green color and it was only fifteen dollars. My wheels were spinning then. I could grab this and that and create a woodland winter scene.

Majestic Magnolia Wreath

Several weeks ago I was contacted by Lynch Creek Farms to see if I would like one of their fresh wreaths. Why yes, yes I would. So we arranged for it to be delivered the first week of December so it would stay beautiful through Christmas.
It arrived right on time.

Simple Christmas Style in the Sitting Room

Simple is the name of the game in my Christmas decor this year. It only took me a few minutes to add some touches in this room to add some Christmas cheer.

A small preserved boxwood wreath rests on the vintage boot forms.

Wow Us Wednesdays #303

Welcome to Wow Us Wednesdays! Hope your week is off to a good start. We are getting lots of much needed rain and I know the ground is rejoicing. While it's cold and raining I've been trying to finish the Christmas decorating. Like I said before I'm not going overboard and doing a lot, but just adding touches in each room. We also worked on the kitchen all weekend and it looks so good. I still have just a few spots that need another coat of paint.

There were lots of great links last week so here are a few features.

I love how Petticoat Junktion turned a gumball machine into a snow globe.

Glam and Rustic Christmas Tree

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, you grew into a big tree. Yes, my tabletop tree grew up into a big tree and I love it. Thank you to Tree Classics for sponsoring this tour and sending me a big girl tree and thank you to Amy of Maison Decor for putting this tour together. I liked the simplicity of the smaller tree, but this one is awfully pretty to gaze upon especially at night so that is why I'm sharing the night shot first.
I'm am joining four other lovely ladies today so be sure to click on the links at the end of the post.

Christmas Cabin Guestroom Tour and Giveaway

Welcome to the bHome for the holidays blog tour. I am so excited to share my guestroom decorated and ready for Christmas. No, we don't own a cabin, but the guestroom took on a cabin/ski lodge feel when I found the cutest pillows at HomeGoods. Yes, usually something new sparks an idea and I start creating away and y'all know I love pillows. Then make them plaid with whipstitching and cute buttons and of course they had to come home with me. Get comfy because I took lots of pictures and then be sure to visit my fellow bHomers below plus read the giveaway info. It's for a $250 shopping spree so don't miss out.

Home Style Saturdays

Howdy howdy, and welcome to Home Style Saturdays. I hope y'all are in full on Christmas mode Well, actually most of y'all are probably through decorating and shopping. It's been a very busy week after returning home late Tuesday night. I'm finally decorating for Christmas and the tree is up! I will be in two tours over the next two days so be sure to come back for those. One is a  guest room and the other is the tree. Today I'm sharing my Christmas Table that I shared a couple of days ago, just in case you missed it, plus it was part of a tour, too and you don't want to miss all that inspiration. December is the month for festive tours, for sure.

Traditional Christmas Table....Styled and Set Tour

Hi everyone, it is so good to finally be home! I am so glad that I had the foresight to decorate this table very early. I knew the kitchen reno was going to happen and make lots of dust and mess so I set this early and took the pictures. Then I put it all away before the mess began. Of course as the kitchen reno was being done we got called away unexpectedly for a week and I feel so very behind on everything. I'm patting myself on the back for at least having this holiday table to ready to share today as part of the Styled and Set tour hosted by Lory at Designthusiasm. If you just came from Randi's of Randi Garrett Design, welcome. She always sets stunning tables. If you are new here I hope you will come back and visit again.

Wow Us Wednesdays #302

Welcome to Wow! Hope y'all are having a good week so far. I wrote this post early while out of town and hopefully we returned home today after a very long week. Thank you again for all your prayers and condolences.

Now let's look at some features from last week and get this party started!

I love this cute DIY storybook art by Blesser House along with a tutorial.

Seven Christmas Mantels

Today I'm sharing the seven Christmas mantels from my last seven years of blogging since I'm still away and can't decorate yet for this year. These will be new to my new readers and may inspire some ideas for your mantel and for my long time followers, too. For those who have been following a long time you will notice changes of the mantel color over the years. I hope to be going home tomorrow so I can start this year's decorating. You can click on the date under each photo to visit the old posts.

Thank You and A Christmas Tour

Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving? Our plans were quite drastically changed after getting the phone call about my dad on Monday. Thank you all so much for all the prayers posted on facebook, instagram, my blog and a few personal emails. They all mean the world to me. As many of you know he did pass away after the family decided to take him off of life support. He went very quickly and peacefully. We were hoping to be back home by now, but there are some legalities to take care of on Monday, since the law firms are closed for the holiday, so we are having to stay longer. My house is a total wreck from the kitchen reno and I have not begun Christmas decorating, but these things will have to wait. I'm sure everything will come together after we get home.

Today I dug into my archives to share my home tour decked for Christmas in 2013. Be sure to click on my link below and check out what my friends are sharing, too this week.

Wow Us Wednesdays #301

Welcome to Wow! I was working on this post on Monday when I got a phone call about my 84 year old dad, who lives in Florida, that he had fallen and broken his leg and was found unconscious. He is on a ventilator and we have had to drive down to Florida. Not the way we wanted this week to go, but this is life. If y'all would say a prayer for him it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Here are a some features from last week.

I love how easy these gold dipped leaves are to do by Pink Peppermint Design.

Are You Afraid to Mix Patterns?

I have always mixed patterns in a room and find it very easy. I don't really even think about it, but I have heard many of you say you don't know how. I have read many times that you should have no more than three different patterns in a room. Well, I say bah humbug! Who are the authorities that came up with that one anyway? I know the late great designer Charles Faudree never stopped at three.

Lakewood 400 Antiques and More

Well......I'm a bit disappointed that the carpenters aren't showing up this weekend, but they said they'll be here on Monday. I'm to the point that I'll believe them when I see them. I've been a bit stressed lately with the kitchen reno so I had to escape on Friday to the monthly antiques sale at the Lakewood 400 in Cumming, Ga. which is about 30 to 45 minutes from me depending on traffic.

My favorite booth is this one by Ida Reider of Simply Southern filled with beautiful antiques and other finds and they are always displayed beautifully. This is the same booth I purchased my mirror over the fireplace from a few months ago. She really has great prices.

Kitchen Progress

As I mentioned in this post we are doing a small remodel of our kitchen and I thought I would share what we have accomplished so far.

Mr.Savvy hung one of the pendants temporarily so we could see if it was going to look right and yes yes it does. I'm seriously thrilled with them! There will be another one over the sink.

My Eight Tips for A Comfortable Guestroom

T'is the season for hosting guests and that means preparing a welcoming guestroom. I mostly just host family, but occasionally a friend or two may stay and I want them to be very comfortable while here. Today I'm sharing my tips for having a comfortable room for your guests. I'm not hosting until Christmas this year. Thank goodness since my house is a shambles right now until the kitchen gets finished.

Wow Us Wednesdays #300

Welcome to Wow! I can't believe this is the 300th party! Thanks so much to all of you who link up here each week or just come over to be inspired!😀

I shared the kitchen remodel deets yesterday and Mr. Savvy and I have done a lot of work already, but now we're just waiting on the carpenters to show to frame in the top of the cabinets and add crown molding around the kitchen and breakfast room. I hope they show soon. My kitchen looks like a bomb went off!

Let's look at some pretties from last week.

Like Katie at Let's Add Sprinkles says, plaid is all the rage and she shared how she used a thrift store find to create some plaid decor.

Kitchen Remodel Details

Who starts a pretty big project this close to the holidays? We do! If you had told me a few weeks ago that I was getting another kitchen remodel I would have told you no way, but when Mr. Savvy is ready to go along with me on a makeover then I'm not going to say no, not now. If I did that he may change his mind. The reason we are doing this is because of him anyway. See, he doesn't want to downsize like I do so he said if we fix things in this house that I want updated then wouldn't I be okay staying put. To downsize now would cost too much since property is skyrocketing around here. The main reason he wants to stay is because of his car hobby garage. We would need bigger property than what I want in order for him to have his separate garage. So staying put it is. I told him when I can't handle cleaning this house anymore I will hire someone and when the yard is too much for us we will get a gardener.

I shared some kitchen inspiration photos last week of some ideas that will take place in our kitchen. This kitchen makeover is happening a lot faster than I expected in fact the carpenters are supposed to be here today and Mr. Savvy and I did a lot of the work that we could do ourselves over the weekend.

This is the before of the peninsula side.

Home Style Saturdays.... Farmhouse Christmas Bedroom

I know a lot of bloggers are already decorating for Christmas. Some do it early because they always have. Some do it because they have big blog tours coming up and need to get everything done and photographed. Some have sponsored posts coming up that need to reach the masses early. And many are decorating early to give their readers inspiration for their homes this year. I'm not one who decorates before Thanksgiving. I start the day after and even then I get tired of all the extra stuff that is out and can't wait to put it away. Anyone else here like that?

Anywho since I am not decorating yet I thought I would share a Christmas bedroom that is one of my most pinned photos on pinterest. I love to do the bedrooms all year, but it's even more fun to deck them for Christmas.

This is a guestroom from 2014 and you can click here or below to see the rest of it.

Practical Centerpieces

Can y'all believe that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away?! Goodness gracious time is just whizzing right on by. With the holiday approaching, and just in case you haven't figured out what you want to do for your centerpiece, here are some ideas of practical centerpieces. What I mean by practical is they are not too high and obtrusive and you can see and converse with those across from you. I know the tall ones are beautiful, but not practical.

Kitchen Project Coming Soon

I've been doing a lot of kitchen pinning on Pinterest lately because there is a pending project coming soon at our house. I thought I would share these photos with you and see if you can tell me what they have in common? They have more than one thing in common, but there is a particular thing here that will happen in our kitchen.

Wow Us Wednesdays #299

Welcome to Wow! Hope your week is going well so far and I'm not getting into politics, but today is a big day for our country and I hope everyone took the time to vote in this crazy election!

Let's take a look at some features from last week and get this party started!

Cute DIY napkin rings for your holiday table by The Happy Housie.

Fun Colors in the November Sun Room

My sun room is probably changed more frequently than any other room in my home because I basically live in here. This is my office and where I watch television. I don't have the typical office with a desk and chair and filing cabinets. I use a laptop and the tall chest between the chairs is my filing cabinet and where I keep my camera equipment. Recently I added a bit more pattern and color in here just by borrowing from other rooms and my stash.

Tweaks Around the House

Of course there have been some home decor changes around my house. Isn't there always? I'm always tweaking and updating things seasonally or whenever the mood strikes. I took a few pictures of some recent changes around the house including a couple of my recent antique finds.

Daylight savings time just ended so lamps are turned on earlier and it's the perfect time to add a couple of new lamps. Well, actually they are vintage lamps, but new to me.

Home Style Saturday.....being thankful

It's November and with Thanksgiving not too far away it's time to think about what we are thankful for. I'm thankful for so many things, but especially for my family and the one I married into over forty-one years ago.

I first shared this story a few years ago and I am thrilled to be joining some fellow blogging friends for the Home Style Saturday series.

I never knew Mr. Savvy's mother because she passed away when he was only fifteen years old. I am sure I would have loved her. How could you not love a woman who had ten children? She had to be very special to raise ten kids.

Farmhouse Vignette in the Breakfast Room with Vintage Finds

I have a thing for vintage European breadboards and started collecting them a few years ago. When I was at the Country Living Fair I lucked up on a new one to add to my collection. I also found this wonderful large ironstone bowl in the same booth as the houndstooth wingback chair that I bought and added to the sitting room. So I put my new finds in a vignette on the breakfast room table.

Wow Us Wednesdays #298

Welcome to Wow and welcome to the first day of November! Say what? Gosh, this year is flying by. Two of the biggest holidays coming up and then on to the new year. I just can't believe it. Have you begun Christmas shopping yet? I'm one who waits till later to start. I bet some of y'all have yours done.

Lots of great links last week and here are some features.

DIY rustic candlesticks by Garden Matter.

Winchester Antique Mall in Franklin

Yesterday I shared a few places in Franklin that I shopped in last Friday and today we are continuing with my last stop....Winchester Antique Mall. This is a favorite shop of mine because they carry lots of the things I collect. I wish I had bottomless pockets so I could have snagged a few things, but I actually left without buying anything from them this time.

Here are some of the things I saw this trip.

There was lots of ironstone.

Antiquing in Franklin

How was your weekend? We had not been to visit our son, daughter in law and the grands in quite some time so we made a trip to Nashville and I always love to stop in Franklin to visit some favorite antique spots. I could live in Franklin, but Mr. Savvy says no. At least I get to visit the area and shop occasionally. If you have not ever visited Franklin check it out some time especially if you are in the Nashville area.

First stop Antiques at the Factory.  Lots of nice antiques with a mix of new things and I lucked up and brought three things home from here.

My Other Country Living Fair Finds

Last week I showed y'all my perfect for the sitting room wing back chair from the Country Living Fair and today I'm sharing the pretty green and white china pieces I purchased. Yep, old china that is white with green accents found a new home in the sitting room proudly displayed on the vaisselier mixed with the majolica.

29 Fabulous Holiday Settings

Thanksgiving is less than four weeks away! If you need some table setting ideas we have you covered with twenty nine different and inspirational ideas. So get comfy, grab a cup of your favorite drink and enjoy.

A Harvest Table in My Secret Garden

I have day dreamed about eating outside at a large harvest table with family and friends enjoying good food and fellowship and just being outside with nature in the chill of the air. Nothing formal in this setting so you can just show up in your jeans because I'll be in mine. This would be so much fun to do for Thanksgiving if it was warm enough. The weather here is very unpredictable in November. It has been freezing here with a fire in the fireplace or very warm and the air conditioner running like it was last year and like it still is now at the end of October. Today we are going to pretend it's warm enough to have our harvest meal outside and I'm joining a fabulous group of bloggers in the Holiday Entertaining Tour hosted by Lory at Designthusiasm so be sure to check out the links at the end of the post.

Welcome to my harvest table in my secret garden.

Wow Us Wednesdays #297

Welcome to Wow! Thanks so much for partying with me. I hope your week is going good so far. I have been busy cleaning stuff out. I am taking things that I no longer need to the consignment shop and to GoodWill. It will feel so good to lighten the load around here.
Oh, and I went and got some copper colored hair today and you can see that on IG.

Let's get this party started, but first here are some features from last week.

Simply Stacie shares her recipe for vanilla pumpkin sugar scrub for silky soft skin.

Holiday Entertaining Blog Tour

A new blog tour started yesterday to give y'all some great ideas for your holiday entertaining this year. Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away? My turn will be on Thursday and I will be sharing something I have never shared before.

Just Like Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Remember the story of Goldilocks and the three bears? Remember when she went in the three bears' house and tried out the three chairs and one was too large, one was too small and one was Just right? Well, my story is very similar of chairs that have changed out in my sitting room.

This is the new chair that is just right ,but wait we need to start at the beginning of the story.

Country Living Fair Atlanta 2016

I love when the Country Living Fair comes to town and I spent all day there with my sister on Friday. I'm telling y'all my legs still hurt....can we say out of shape. After being very summer like right before the day of the fair it was very windy and chilly on Friday. Not complaining here because it wasn't hot! It was so windy that pine needles were landing in everyone's hair. I'm glad no large tree parts were falling. The turn out on Friday was like a Saturday or Sunday crowd. I guess everyone took off from work.

This was a cool way of using a round frame around a painted canvas. Yes, that's canvas.
