Miss Bailey is home and is sporting a purple bandage and splinted leg. She has to stay in her crate except for going potty leashed. It's important that bandage stay wrapped tight on her leg.
If her bandage starts sliding then she has to go back and get it wrapped again.
Awe, look at that face.
She whined most of the night in her crate because she wanted to sleep with us so I got very little sleep. I now have her tied to the outside of the crate so she can have a break. Doesn't she look comfy on the faux fur throw?
What we do for our fur babies.
The next two months are going to be hard since she already wants to move around.
She's really a very good patient. She never messes with her bandage and never had to wear the cone around her neck. Thank goodness!
Sorry Bay Bay.
You'll be better and running again by spring!
Also, today my blog is SIX YEARS OLD today!! How did that happen? It sure has flown by!
Here is a link to my very first post for those new around here who have not seen it. That post sat unpublished for several weeks before I got the nerve to hit publish.
Things have certainly changed in my home and in the blogging industry in the last six years.
The chest in the photo above, from my first post, was my first furniture paint project and it is the one by my bed in the master now. It was updated a tiny bit a few years ago, but is basically the same color.

Some original readers and followers are still here and some have left blogging which is sad to see them quit. Of course I'm not blogging for life. :)
Thanks to all of my old and new readers for visiting here.
My blog would be nothing without you!
On to year seven!

Happy blog anniversary! I'm so glad Miss Bailey is home from her surgery safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurel. Yes, good to have her home.
DeleteI can't belief that your yorkie is kept in a cage and only out to go to the bathroom. I hope that I read that wrong. I have an 8 year old yorkie and she never goes in her cage unless she chooses with the door opened and when she travels in the car.
DeleteExcuse me??? Obviously you didn't read why she is crated. She just had major knee surgery and by her vet's orders she is to be crated and kept as still as possible for 60 days in order for her knee to heal. I would never purposely keep her locked up all day. I sure hope your yorkie never ever ever needs this surgery!!!!
DeleteWell, congrats on the milestone. I remember featuring you on Welcome Wagon. I knew then that you had what it took. Perhaps put Miss Bailey in her crate on the bed? Or a table pushed up to the bed?
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hubby suggested the same thing about the crate on the bed. Will get her smaller one out for that.
DeleteAwww...that sweet face! I'm so glad Miss Bailey is home where she belongs. A very happy blog anniversary to you! Thank you for pushing that "publish" button six years ago and every time since then. :-)
ReplyDeleteMimi, thanks so much!
DeleteHappy Blogiversary! I haven't been following you since the beginning, but I'm so thankful for you now. Poor Miss Bailey-I can't even imagine not being able to have Hunter sleep with us or be on my lap-he would not be happy either. I can't remember what happened to her leg, so need to go back and reread your past posts about her.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend and that your girl adjusts easily.
Hugs, Noreen
Thank you, Noreen. She had a common terrier problem called luxating patella which means her kneecap gets out of place and hers didn't go back.
DeletePoor Bailey! That is a long recovery time for that little sweet girl. I am sure she will do just fine. I am sure she feels a bit dejected though.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your six years. You have done really well with your posts and your journey and I have enjoyed following you! Here's to a n even brighter next year of blogging! Can it get any better???? xo Diana
Thanks so much, Diana!
DeleteWow! Congrats. I was just thinking it has been awhile since Michelle, Ten June, got us Atlanta bloggers together for dinner.
ReplyDeletePraying Miss B has a speedy recovery.
I don't think I have ever gone to a dinner. I have done a couple things with the Atlanta facebook group of bloggers. Thanks
DeleteOh, I sure hope Miss Bailey adjusts and recovers in the next few weeks. Yes, we do love our little fur babies!! We lost our sweet dog in May and our cat two days before Christmas. It's so quiet around the house--first time without a pet in over 25 years.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blog anniversary! It's so fun to see how things have changed over the years. I think I read your blog for some time before I knew how to "follow" --I'm not the best with computers!
Happy Saturday.
I hope I can adjust to the next 60 days of doing this. So sorry for your loss. It is never easy.
DeleteThanks
Poor, Miss Bailey. That is a tough one. Hopefully, the next two months will fly by. Congratulations on your blogging anniversary. I started following you about 4 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI love your new blog look.
Thanks, Katie. We will see if I survive this. :)
DeleteI know Miss Bailey is going to get tired of this routine. '-) Hope she cooperates and is back to normal faster than expected.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary on your blog. I think I was one of your original followers. '-)
Always enjoy seeing what you have to share, Kim. Keep it up!
Ha ha, Sarah, I am already tired of this routine. Picking her up and putting her back over and over is tiring. She weighs over 15 lbs. At least I'm getting a work out!
DeleteThanks Sarah!
That sweet face, Miss Bailey is such a cutie! Two months is a long time, but at least she is being a good patient and not having to wear the cone. Wishing her a quick recovery! Congratulations on celebrating 6 years of blogging! I know I have been following along and enjoying your blog for years. Your blog has always been one of my absolute favorites as I LOVE your decorating style and always enjoy your projects and seeing the changes you make throughout your home. Cheers to year 7 Kim!
ReplyDeleteAt this rate two months is an eternity. She already wants to run around and can't. So sweet of you to say my blog is one of your faves. You know I love your style, too!
DeleteThanks!
Congratulations on your blogging anniversary! This past December was my 8th! While I haven't blogged much over the last year or so, I haven't decided to totally give up yet! Also, Kim, I wanted to say I'm happy that you have stayed "true" to what i consider a good blogger and haven't sold out like so many bloggers have, yes, you have ads but they don't bother me and your blog is realistically relatable (does that make sense)? Anyway, I'm looking forward to following you for as long as you decide to blog.
ReplyDeleteWow, Judy, I didn't know you had been blogging that long. I am sure I won't be blogging as often as things get done around here and I run out of steam. Thanks for your sweet words. Yes, I think I do know what you mean.
DeleteCongrats on 6 years of blogging!! I read your blog everyday....it's my newspaper along with some other bloggers...
ReplyDeletePoor Bailey....I know what she is going through, we went through that with our Belle, 3 times.....
Good luck and I hope she won't need the "cone of shame"....
Nancy

Thank you, Nancy. That is so sweet to say we are your newspaper.
DeleteBailey better not ever have to have this surgery again. Fingers and toes crossed.
Poor sweet Bailey. Prayers for a speedy recovery and a not too stressful two months.
ReplyDeleteI have followed along for 6 years! I cannot believe it has been that long. Congratulations and many more to come.
Thanks, Elizabeth. I can't believe it has been this long either.
DeleteMAZOL TOV ! Many more years of success ! I so enjoy the blog and bantering..oh sweet Miss B . . Be well soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joyce!
DeletePoor baby! It is so difficult when they can't do everything they do everyday. The bed is a real problem. Lucky you don't need the cone. It drove my dog crazy. I had to remove it right away. Get well soon sweet Bailey.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peggy!
DeleteHappy Blogaversary!.....and I am sure that Miss Bailey is receiving the royal treatment. Hopefully she will be up and running in no time!...
ReplyDeleteI'm running out of steam to give her the royal treatment.
DeleteCongrats on your anniversary, and I hope you were able to get a little more sleep last night! Looks like Miss Bailey likes the faux fur!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane. Yes, a little more. I had Leila and she was crying at 3am.
DeleteHappy blogaversary! Six years is a big milestone! Miss Bailey looks terrific. Hope she sleeps tonight for you. Colleen was here last night and I didn't get much sleep either, but mostly because of her AND Joe! UGH!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pinky. Yes, I had Leila last night, too and she woke up in the middle of the night.
DeleteHere is to an uneventful recovery for Bailey and you. I know bloggers come and go but I hadn't considered my favorites RETIRING! Congrats on 7 years.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy. Yes, eventually!
DeleteCongrats on your blog milestone! Best wishes for speedy recovery to your little furry fella...he sure is cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Betty.
DeleteHappy Blogging Anniversary! It sure has been a journey Kim. I am glad you are still here too. Hugs to Bailey. I just showed Jack, and he said awwww. XO
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 6 years of blogging. Your blog is so enjoyable, I always look forward to reading it. Lots of happy thoughts for Miss Bailey. I hope she heals very quickly so she can run around again very soon!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen.
DeleteCongrats on your blogging milestone! I discovered your blog through Pinterest 3 or 4 years ago and subscribed! I have enjoyed the journey! Hoping Miss Bailey heals quickly! Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and looking forward to reading many, many more posts. Best wishes to Bailey and a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteHi,Kim and Congratulations on your blog anniversary! I couldn't get to your first blog publication. The only link I saw was the word "course" with an arrow in green and that brought a box advertising getting a degree at Columbia College! Is there another link? I really wanted to see that!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Miss Bailey has a long road to complete healing and recovery of her little leg. If she hasn't told you yet, she would like some special treats and a menu up-grade while she is convalescing. And, really, you must find a way for her to sleep with you--she will heal faster if she has the comfort of "her" usual bed.
She communicated all this to me telepathically so I hope you take it seriously. Perhaps she's made it clear to you by now , too. (Just playing--but wouldn't it be interesting if we really could get inside their minds?)
Sending healing energy for Bailey's recovery. She sure is a cutie.
Naomi, you aren't clicking on the right link. Don't click on the green links those go to ads. Sorry about that. Click where it says my first paint project and thanks.
DeleteSo sorry about Miss Bailey. Congratulations on your blog anniversary.
ReplyDeleteMary
Happy anniversary, and in honor of Bailey tonight I'm sitting and not doing any running around.
ReplyDeletePoor baby. I hope she will feel Better soon.
ReplyDeleteAww, little Miss Bailey! I hope she heals quickly...at least she doesn't have to wear the 'cone of shame'! When Rosie was spayed, she had to wear the cone and was miserable. Congrats on the blogiversary! I have enjoyed your blog so much over the years!
ReplyDeleteCheers! Shelley
Be very careful that the splint and bandage don't get wet. When my Riley girl broke her leg the vet really stressed that. I had to put a Ziploc bag over the whole thing whenever she went out.
ReplyDeleteYes, Jane, they did stress that and gave me a little cover they made to tie on her leg if it is wet out. When it is not nice out she goes on paper pads in the garage since she is paper trained, too.
DeleteWishing Bailey a speedy recovery!!! And congrats on your blog anniversary!!!
ReplyDeletexo Kat
Hope Miss Bailey is feeling better soon. Congrats on 6 years Kim. You have paved the way for so many of us and I thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh dear little Miss Bailey here's to a speedy recovery

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 6 years, Kim! That's amazing on its own, but to have done it so successfully is the ultimate achievement. So glad to hear that Miss Bailey is home. Wishing her a pain-free recovery!
