I really didn't think I would be messing with the great room again until I got my new furniture, but since it is still several weeks away with another delay(grrrr) I did make some quick changes in here again last weekend. I had no plans to do this, but next thing I knew I was moving lamps and swapping pillows and even trying out another rug from my stash. Sharing this with y'all will show you just how easy it is to give the room a new look with just a few simple changes.
I had this plaid rug stored away and am loving it here. I am pretty sure it will work with the new furniture, too.
I have been wanting to add lamps to the sofa table so I took these from the master. I do love them here. I moved the lamps from the dresser to the bedside dresser and nightstand to replace these. I am adding one lamp on my dresser instead of two for now.
This is what was there before. Three large demijohns. Oh, and see the lamp over on the bookcase?
It moved over to the sideboard.
And this little lamp from the foyer moved to the bookcase.
I moved this brass lamp from the sun room for Mr. Savvy to use it by his chair. This is the best light to read by and it is adjustable. Best find ever at the RH outlet a few years ago. Wish I would come across another one.
I swapped the red plaid pillows for these. I love the texture of the kilim pillow.
I love how these pillows were collected over time and all work so well together.
I tossed some old books and a couple of my magnifying glasses in the dough bowl on the table.
I'm loving the new look until the new stuff arrives...if it ever does.
I'll be sharing the sofa and coffee table choice with you soon along with some accent chair possibilities from a different company I am trying to decide on.

I know you're fuming over the latest delay (bummer), but it looks beautiful ... love the changes! I "have" to find a dough bowl. :)

DeleteEverything you do looks great! I love seeing your room transformations! Sheila
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet, Sheila!
DeleteI love it when people decorate with things they already have on hand. I think it shows great creativity to think outside the box of "I've always had it here" or "I've always used it this way." One of the things I love most about your blog, Kim, is your clever approach at decorating--you are never afraid to shake things up a bit. :-)
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks so much, Mimi!
DeleteLove the updates! Very fresh look with the rug and also love the books in the dough bowl. Great lamps too! Looking forward to the reveal of your new stuff. I know it seems like an eternity when you're waiting... but oh, how fun when it arrives!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lory!
DeleteI love all the changes to your room. That rug is perfect and the lamps with the black shades lend a touch of elegance. Your room is slowly moving away from Country to a more classic relaxed style. Just wait till your new furniture arrives. I think it's going to be a "wow!" Moment.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joanne.
DeleteIt is so hard to wait! I remember waiting in December for our new couch.

I know you're ready fir the new sofa....but your changes in the meantime, look nice. Is your kilim pillow scratchy? I got two covers from Pottery Barn a couple years ago and they are scratchy- itchy feeling :(
