A couple days ago I shared my antiquing finds from my recent trip to a local antique mall with my mom and sister. There were a couple things there that I passed up, but they just kept haunting me. Have you had that happen to you? So I have gone back twice in the past few days and I took a few pictures.
I thought this vendor had left the store, but he had just moved to a new booth. He always has the best stuff, but most of his prices are more than I want to dish out. I love the pillow, but it's over $200 and there are two of them. Gosh, I didn't even see the blue striped grain sack. Funny I see things in pictures I take that I didn't see in person.
I always look high and look low for those pieces that may not be in eye's sight. I thought of my friend Shannon of Fox Hollow Cottage when I spied this crate.
Beautiful French enamelware pitchers. Hmmm, I may need to go back again. I could use another one of these.
I'm on the hunt for a smaller lamp and this one was cute.
This old alabaster one was pretty.
This custom pillow is one I had my eyes on and still did not buy it. It would work well in the great room.
Remember my old trapper's basket I bought last year? I only paid $55 for it.
Well, look at the price of this one. Wow!
This is a gorgeous piece.
And this is a piece I went back for not once, but two more times because I just couldn't make up my mind and I waited too late. It was gone. It was large and chippy and I could have used it in several areas. Oh, well, you snooze you lose.
My last visit here I had not one, but two ladies ask me if I was Kim from Savvy Southern Style. Why yes, yes I am. That was the first time that has happened.
We are expecting a wet weekend, but I hope yours is fabulous!
I would have bought the bicycle art, too. It's great!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing...I do not notice things until I see them in photos!....You got a great deal on that basket!..Hope to go antiquing with you soon.....have a great weekend!...and I have seen that painting before....I will be on the lookout!
ReplyDeleteWhat shops do you frequent in the Atlanta area? I'm always looking for new places to go.
ReplyDeleteThus is the Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta.
DeleteI thought so,
DeleteI see several things I like also! The bicycle art, the grey chest, and the fox hollow tray. The hollow behind out house on the farm was called fox hollow...due to the number of fox. Antiquing is such fun! Sheila
ReplyDeleteLove that wooden sign!!!!! I could use that myself! You're right. You snooze you lose!
ReplyDeleteKim, I grew up in Benton Harbor, MI., the "big" town near Sodus, MI., where your basket came from. It's known as the "Heart of the Fruit Belt", and I never, in my entire time living there, saw a basket like yours - a rare find, indeed!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great shop!! And yes, I do the same thing... lol. I have a phone full of pictures of pieces in antique shops. I would take one of everything, especially in that first photo!! I'm actually heading to our nearby antique market today, so you just got me in the mood... :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to "antique"! Too close to my home, though🙂!! Too much temptation!!
ReplyDeleteKim, you're famous! :D
ReplyDeleteThose custom pillows really would work in my home too. I tend to always buy furniture without a pattern so really need pillows like this to tie colors together. thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to antique! I have not been thrilled with the antique stores here in Greenville. I need to make a day trip to Asheville soon.
ReplyDeleteHey Kim, I don't mean to be a wet blanket but that bicycle picture is from Cost-plus World Market..bought it myself about four years ago...I wonder what they are asking. What a wonderful store for your pickings. I go to the ones Joanna Gaines visits, Texas-style antiques...not quite as fancy as the French somehow.
ReplyDeleteYes, I knew I had seen this before, but I think this had been enhanced. It had built up layers of paint or plaster on it in spots and then a sealer over it. It was $85.
DeleteWow thanks for the pictures! I hope you will do that again! I love antiquing but am not able to do that at this point in my life; I have a 2 & 4 year old, which makes antiquing hard because they want to touch every.thing. I love those custom pillows too - I used that fabric to make some pillows for my sunroom a while back. I'm sure you know, but Joann caries that fabric if you are looking for a project;)
ReplyDeleteKate, I don't sew so I buy them made. Thanks
DeleteI sew out of necessity to support my pillow habit LOL:) My mom is a seamstress and taught me when I was 12...a skill I am finally starting to appreciate!
DeleteWhat store were the pillows in??
ReplyDeleteAll of these are in the Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta.
DeleteWow, soooooo many wonderful goodies! I can't wait to see what you brought home with you....each time :o)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

I want the suitcase under the Fox Hollow crate. I'm in love with old suitcases. Love to see what's out there when you take us along. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOk, I just might have to make a trip! Haven't been in awhile. I would LOVE that Fox Hollow crate!!! That is the name of the subdivision I lived in when I got engaged, 28 years ago this May.
ReplyDeleteOh what fun you had!
ReplyDeleteLove the grain sack....you should get that....

Oh Kim those french blue pillows made my heart skip a beat!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun place to shop. I see why it is one of your favorites.
Looks like a great place to browse and shop. Now you are enticing me to scratch my treasure finding itch!!
ReplyDeleteOh ho ho!! Thanks for the eye candy Kim!! What a fabulous booth! I loved the first blue pillow and the alabaster lamp! I mean I loved it all but those would of come home with me if I could afford them! Sounds like it is a pricie booth. Lots of fun and gorgeous things!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you are famous and people recognize you when you are out and about!
Have a great weekend!
I've only been to the QOH in Alpharetta once. I do go to the one in Buford quite regularly, though. It's always lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun place to shop. Do you by chance remember the price on the alabaster lamp? I have two inherited from my husband's grandmother and was just curious.
ReplyDeleteI think it was $95.
DeleteWell I can see why you keep going back! My goodness some of that stuff is just amazing! That must have been a good feeling that the lady's asked you that:) That's awesome!
