I am a wee bit late sharing this project that I worked on before Christmas. Heck, it may have even been before Thanksgiving. These lamps were in the master bedroom and they weren't this color when I bought them last year.
They were this very dirty looking almost peachy color. I love the style of these lamps, but they needed to be freshened up.
I painted them with Amy Howard One Step Paint in Linen.
A couple coats of paint and a little distressing was all it took to take them from dirty peach to a vintage white look.
On a side note last night I shared on instagram that I had a bit of an accident yesterday tripping on the curb in front of Fresh Market and the sidewalk won! I tried so hard not to fall, but I did and hit my head very hard on the concrete and split my forehead open. I was with my daughter and granddaughter and they took me to the ER after being put on hold with 911. I really didn't need an ambulance. We had to wait forever in the waiting room and after finally getting called back two hours later I got four stitches. I'm fine. Today I feel like I got a really good workout in yesterday and all my muscles are sore. I scraped up the top of one hand and banged up a knee. I also have a nice pink streak in my bangs. I was kind of wanting to sport some pink hair, but not this way.
Here's to a better day!
I think I 'm going to have Mr. Savvy build me a bubble to live in.
Oh, no! Sounds like a nasty fall. Hope you're feeling better over the next few days. Loving the new color of the lamps though!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam!
DeleteOH MY - so glad you were not hurt more seriously. Please take it easy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Merry. Yes, taking it very easy today!

ReplyDeletesorry you fell but glad no more damage was done, than what you described.
Thanks, Sonny and me, too!
DeleteOuch, yes we seem to fall harder with age and hurt all over for days. So sorry your day was turned into an accident. Better take some pain meds for a few days, until the soreness wears off. BTW I like the lamps in the new color :)
ReplyDeleteYes, that was the hardest I have ever hit the ground! Thanks, Dawn.
DeleteThe lamps look lovely. Take care of yourself and relax today.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra!
DeleteOh my goodness! Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Arli!
DeleteOh my word, so sorry for your fall, but so happy you weren't hurt worse. Love the lamps and I love how this room is coming together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marty!
DeleteI too, took a fall a couple of weeks ago. Funny how gravity works. Hope you're feeling better & on the mend !!
ReplyDeleteOh, Betty I hope you are doing well. What is it with getting older and falling? :)
DeleteWishing you a speedy recovery, Kim!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gail!
DeleteSo glad you weren't seriously hurt ... That had to be so scary. You should pamper yourself and Devote a day to relaxing. The lamps are lovely ... Very much improved!
ReplyDeleteI think it scared my daughter and granddaughter more than me. Thanks!
DeleteI'm not familiar with the Amy Howard paint. Do you like it as well as Annie Sloan? I would love to hear your thoughts. Hope you heal very fast!
ReplyDeleteJill, it is easier to buy Amy Howard paint in the local antique malls and at Ace Hardware now since Annie Sloan paint is only sold in store fronts now or on line. I like both paints though.
DeleteThank you!
DeleteGlad you didn't break anything....except the skin....
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the Amy Howard paint transformation....It looks wonderful!
Take it easy....don't do too much today....

~Des
Thank you, Des!

ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYikes be careful and rest up, that sounds like it was a nasty fall. As I get somewhere between 40 and death I feel as though a Michelin man suit is in order. Lamps turned out beautiful, they look great with your sofa, the whole room looks so fresh and light.
ReplyDeleteYes, I surely need that suit!
DeleteLove the lamps! Sorry to hear about the fall. Wishing you a speedy healing process!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lory!
DeleteGlad you were with family and did not have to face the ER alone! Feel better soon. Mary
ReplyDeletePS Love the lamps!
Thanks, Mary. Yes, glad I wasn't alone.
DeleteI am so sorry you took a fall, Kim. That was a long wait at the ER!!! Sorry you had stitches - hope they had a plastic surgeon put them in as long as it was on your face.
ReplyDeleteThe lamps look Spring-time fresh! xo daina
Thank you, Diana!
DeleteLove the lamps...and hope you are feeling better today and hope that you do not discover any more injuries because of your fall....Rest up today....and I wish I could see that pink streak in your hair!....Hey, you know it is perfect for Spring!
ReplyDeleteI finally got it out with a wet washcloth since it is a bit hard to wash my hair without getting my forehead wet.
DeleteThose lamps went from so-so to perfection. Guess the Tuscan look will be out of style for a while at least. Sorry you took the spill.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I really don't have Tuscan style. It's French country.
DeleteSo sorry that happened but glad it wasn't any more serious… I am assuming no concussion?
ReplyDeleteI am familiar with with the "body toothache"the next day as I took a similar fall two weeks ago except I fell backwards and had a hematoma on the back of my head and a bruised back. Feel better!
No, concussion. Just very sore. Thanks!
DeleteThe lamps look perfect with your new sofa. So sorry you took a fall and were injured. Gosh I hate that- it's like slow motion and you can't stop it! I imagine your head is tender today. Take it easy.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Liz!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the lamps. Oh my, I hate when we wrestle with the sidewalk and the sidewalk wins.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your on the mend. Sorry to hear that. I pray for a quick healing process.Amen.
Try and have a better day.
Thank you, Pamela!
DeleteSo sorry to hear about your fall Kim, take care of yourself and rest up. Love all of the updates you're doing in your family room :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Moni!
DeleteCan't believe you were able to post your lovely lamp update after your scrape w/ the sidewalk. The Pollyanna in me thought, you can be THANKFUL that you weren't carrying your granddaughter. Take care & heal well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Irishnana, I already had this post ready before my accident. Yes, she is five now and a bit big for me to carry so I am glad, too.
DeleteHi Kim, you took a serious fall if you hit your head. Head injuries can be very serious, and I'm so glad you are ok today. I just hate to fall! It takes awhile to recover from the shock to your body and from the embarrasment of the fall! We all are looking forward to the next post but not until you feel better!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judy. I have a couple posts already done before my spill happened.
DeleteI can't believe 911 put you on hold then a 2 hour wait in the ER?!?!? I hope you weren't in too much pain or bleeding too bad....hopefully you got some good meds and will be feeling better soon. I notice that I'm more prone to falls lately and this old body doesn't recover like it used to. Glad your daughter was there to help you.
ReplyDeleteYes, they put my daughter on hold. Yes, over 2 hours and most folks in there were just sick with coughs or something. I saw one real emergency come in which was a child bit by a dog on his face. They did take him back after the father was having a fit!
DeleteI know I never say anything on your blog but, I do hope you will be all right, praying.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marlene!
DeleteOh yikes!! Curse those darned sidewalks. So glad you are basically okay and hope you are on the mend soon. You have always been a trendsetter, Kim - do you think blogland will be flooded with posts of pink bangs?!! Feel better soon. (And I love the new paint on your lamps!!) Jane
ReplyDeleteYes, curse them for sure!
DeleteKim, I am so sorry about your fall. These things happen so suddenly and can cause all kinds of pain and injury! Rest up and hope you feel better soon! The lamps are perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam!
DeleteKim so sorry to hear about your fall and happy that you're okay! But I'm sure your shaken up! Please rest and take it easy!! Your lamps look beautiful and it's amazing what a little refresh will do!
ReplyDeleteTake care Kathy
Thank you, Kathy!
DeleteI bet you felt old getting stitches on your forehead. Ha! I know I haven't had any since I was a kid. I'm glad that you didn't break a bone! Your lamps looks pretty in their lighter color.
ReplyDeleteSecond time in a year getting stitches and last year was the first time ever.
DeleteOh Kim, I am so sorry! I hope you are feeling a little better. That pink streak sounds CUTE:) I love the lamps. Let us know if Mr. Savvy makes you that bubble:):)
ReplyDeleteO, Kim, I totally sympathize! Planting your face on the cement is not fun! A couple of years ago while taking care of my two and a half year-old twin grandsons one of them ran out the door and started off down the busy side street where they lived. I ran after him and by that time the other one was coming down the street after me! I was beside myself trying to chase two of them and the first one decided to try to cross the street with cars coming. Luckily he became frightened by a motorcycle and headed back to the curb. I was able to grab them both and start back to the house when suddenly my forehead collided with the sidewalk. I didn't know what had happened! A little later I discovered the sole of my shoe was loose and my big toenail was black! The boys were stunned, too by my fall because they just stood there and didn't try to run off again! Finally the three of us got back to their house and I grabbed a bag of frozen peas and put it on my forehead over my eye where I'd hit. When my daughter came home she wanted me to go to ER, but I refused as I didn't have any dizziness or other symptoms, but the next morning I woke up with my eye swollen shut and looking like a big, purple Easter egg! Took a few weeks for the bruising to go away. I hope your boo-boo doesn't give you a goose-egg! Boy, I also hope neither of us has that kind of fall again; it really shakes you up. Oh, and I forgot to mention that the run-away twin was stark naked as he set out on his adventure! I'm sure he wasn't embarrassed, but I was!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love the lamp make-over and hope you heal quickly. Take it real easy, okay?
Oh, my goodness. I am sure you were so afraid that something awful was going to happen to the one running wild. So sorry you got hurt and looks like they were, too. I do have a goose egg along with the cut. So embarrassing, but life goes on. :)
DeleteOh no! I hope you are better soon! Ouch!

Debbie
Thanks, Debbie. Just call me klutz!
DeleteKim, I am so sorry! Please take it easy for a day or two!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am, Patti. Thanks!
DeleteFeel better soon. Be aware of any changes, no matter small.I have two lamps I want to change and just bought AH paint. Did you use any wax, finish or sealer after you painted them?
ReplyDeleteThanks, BarbaraAnn!
DeleteOh, and I forgot. I used hemp oil over the finish. You really don't have to use anything over her one step paint though.
DeleteThe lamps look a lot better with their new coat of paint. Sorry about your fall, as you know I'm prone to stupid accidents, so I know exactly how today you must feel every muscle in your body! Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Magali!
DeleteI'm so sorry you had an accident Kim!
ReplyDeleteI'm also glad you weren't alone and had
someone with you. Take good care!! : )
Thanks, Peggy. I'm so glad I wasn't alone, too.
DeleteLamps look great! I have some I have painted as well and a few more that need some freshening up. So sorry about your fall. I fell over the vacuum cleaner a few weeks ago and felt like I had been hit by a truck for a few days afterwards. Take care....Epsom salt baths work wonders!
ReplyDeleteOh, ouch, Robyn and have almost done that before, too. Thanks for the epsom salt bath tip.
DeleteOh no! I'm so sorry that you took such a nasty tumble Kim and hope that you heal quickly. Thank goodness no concussion which I think is always a concern. Big hugs...Janet
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this, I have fallen before and I got scraped up but no stitches. I was running and slipped in a sandy patch. Broke my favorite sunglasses! I hope you heal up quickly!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, I am so sorry to her about this! What a scary time!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better. Get lots of rest!!
You poor thing...I hope your feeling better by now:) Welcome to my world! LOL! This is why my husband calls me Grace:D LOL!
