I have had the same toile drapes hanging in the dining room for at least eighteen years or more. I had bought them at a local shop already made. They were made well with lining and weights and the best drapes I had ever owned. Well, recently I decided it was time to replace them.
After getting them down I could see what a number the sun had done to them so it was time to replace them for sure. They aren't supposed to be white looking.
I had even thought about not hanging drapes back up, but I like the softness they add.
Ta da....here are my new beautiful buffalo checks with French pleats.
These match the fabric on my chair seats that are around the table.
I had previously mentioned possibly painting my ceiling and now I don't have to thank goodness. The drapes are fine with the ceiling color.
These are made with P. Kaufmann fabric and this is the nine inch pattern in biscuit.

Thanks, Mary Alice.
Deletewhat are you doing with your old drapes? selling?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. If I did it would be pick up only.
Deleteboo - always worth a try tho. If you change your mind.....? You are the one that got me hooked on that fabric. I have the lighter blue in the bedroom and still have to make a bedspread and pillows after my shoulder surgery heals. I always love the fabrics you use.
DeleteWhere did you get your bench?
ReplyDeleteOn a trip to France.
DeleteBeautiful as always. I love buffalo check.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chloianna
DeleteI have been a fan of buffalo check for 30 years +! Timeless!
ReplyDeleteI think, me, too, Pam.
DeleteBuffalo check is my favorite! And I love the color.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lorri

ReplyDeleteThanks, Elizabeth. She did a fabulous job!
DeleteWhere did you get your new curtains? They look great!!
ReplyDeleteI gave the link in the post.
DeleteIt's amazing what a difference new drapes can make to a room. I think they look beautiful! Speaking of beautiful, how is Miss Bailey doing? I have a yorkie as well so I love hearing about her.
ReplyDeleteShe is doing well, Jackie. She has a couple more weeks of rest and a visit to the vet. Thanks
DeleteLove the new drapes! I am wanting to hang drapes in the breakfast room and undecided about what I want. Definitely going to check out your source! Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Edith&Evelyn
I hope you do, Cindy. She did a great job!
DeleteYour new drapes look great love the color.love the color of your celling.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Thanks, Pamela
DeleteI LOVE them, Kim. I have always been a fan of buffalo checks. I bet you could get a couple of pillows out of that old drapery fabric. I think they would be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend. I am trying to pop a few visits in here and there as I can- xo Diana
Thanks, Diana. You just take care of your family and your in my thoughts and prayers.
DeleteThe new drapes are lovely, but I have to say my heart is with the old fabric. Save them. They would be cute as pillows or trim on the edging of draperies, etc.
ReplyDeleteI love them for many years.
DeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteOh Kim, I love the new drapes! And they really compliment the celing color! Kismet! I will check out that site. Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pinky
DeletePerfect match!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vel, yes same fabric.
DeletePerfect. I love to repeat fabrics around a room. Sheila
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheila, me, too.
DeleteOh how pretty! I have the same toile drapes in our family room. Still love the fabric but would prefer to lighten up at this point. You can never go wrong with checks. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacey. These did lighten up my dining room.
Deletethey look terrific in your Dining Room.
ReplyDeleteThanks, miss Laura!
DeleteHi Kim, You have such great taste! Love the whole room!
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks, Anne!
DeleteThey look great Kim! I liked the pattern on the old ones too, but after 18 years I don't blame you for wanting a change. It's a pity the fabric faded. Maybe you could make some pillows with the fabric. I think faded fabric can make a really pretty vintage looking pillow.
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
I already have a couple of toile pillows so these will stay drapes and I may hang onto them for now.
DeleteThey are beautiful, and they look perfect in your dining room. I agree with not having to paint the ceiling. The color of the drapes looks great wight he color of the ceiling!! I also enjoyed the peak of that gorgeous armoire in your dining room. I don't think I ever saw that side! Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat armoire was our very first antique purchase many years ago and I am not allowed to paint it. :) It was on the other side and the buffet switched places with it for a new look. Yes, glad the ceiling is fine for now. Thanks
DeleteMrs. Rick here. The new drapes look wonderful but I'm wondering if you will have to repaint the inside of your china cabinet now? Or, I guess you could add some blue accessories to the room to coordinate with the blue inside the cabinet. We'll just have to wait to see what you do, won't we!
ReplyDeleteSince the drapes are neutral the blue works fine plus the buffet that is in there is blue, too. Then there are blues in the room across from this one and throughout the house there are touches of blue. Plus there may be more once the red sofa and chair are gone. thanks
DeleteThey're gorgeous, Kim! They also look so nice with your floor.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I'm so glad you told us the color of the drapes. Some photos come across more yellow and others more tan. Love buffalo check. I agree with some of the others I think the old drapes would make some nice pillows. Especially the fabric above and below the window that might have been protected from the sun.,
ReplyDeleteLove, love them....they look fantastic in the dining room...and wow 18 years with those other drapes?...They certainly worked well for you all those years...enjoy your pretty drapes in that most pretty room!
ReplyDeleteI love the whole new fresh, clean tone of the house! Ready for spring. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm still in love with Bosporus, though, and it's still on the market, so I must not be the only one!
ReplyDeleteThe buffalo checks really make the room feel more "modern," even though I think of them as classic. I've always loved them. You just gave me an idea - I'm going to be getting rid of the dated gold walls I have, and painting them a nice neutral, but I love the idea of doing a yellow-gold ceiling, to keep some color in the room. Going to pin this to show my hubby how nice it looks!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! I love the new look of the dining room! It's gorgeous like that! So fresh and inviting! I'm in love too :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very nice day,
Claire
For gals like me who can't sew, affordable custom is important. Since I need some dining room curtains I'm popping over to that Etsy shop right now to look around.
ReplyDeleteI am in love, too! So pretty and soft, but with personality. Your old ones were gorgeous, and I bet they will be snatched up if you decide to sell them. Perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteYour new drapes are beautiful and tie everything together so wonderfully! Changing things up always makes things seem fresh and brings new life into a room doesn't it? I can't wait to see your new sofa....it is being delivered today right? Are you glued to the window with Miss Bailey waiting for them to arrive?
ReplyDelete~Des
Pretty drapes - look great with ceiling color!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this I wanted to shout out NOOOOO!!!, because I was in love with the old drapes, but dang if you haven't gone and done it again. Love the new ones even more I think! You can't go wrong with buffalo checks!
ReplyDeleteThose drapes look great in your room. I like how they match your chairs. I also think your ceiling picks up the color in the drapes.
ReplyDeleteThey look gorgeous in there Kim. And they are very similar to the ones I have in my dining room! What a relief you don't have to repaint your ceiling!
ReplyDeleteShelley
The new drapes are so perfect! They look great. Can I ask how you got the same fabric as on your chairs? It's a wonderful, polished look.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I LOVE LOVE buffalo check!!!! My favorite. That toile was so pretty. I had it in another color way. But change is always nice. Congrats! Use in good health.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...
ReplyDeleteLove from Titti
I love the toile curtains, but the checked ones look so right in your room, like everything clicked in the right place!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room just gets better and better!
ReplyDeleteAny Chance you would sell them....I have a new bathroom....still using my old shower curtain...it is the same toile...but the curtain is not wide enough......I have need of more material.... ;-0)
ReplyDeleteWould love to see if you are interested....thanks!!

I'm hanging onto them for now. Sorry. They carry the fabric at Hobby Lobby.
DeleteThe new drapes are gorgeous and I love the color as well:) I don't think I've ever noticed that window before? And I love the ceiling color the way it is for sure!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim! Love the pop of color and they work perfectly with your chairs!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you are in love with them! Gorgeous and a really great look for your room.
