I made a few simple changes in the great room by swapping out some things.
First thing you will notice is I swapped out the tall oatmeal tufted chair with this traditional plaid one that was in the master bedroom.
I have had this chair for years and it is a very well made higher end piece with classic lines. The colors of the fabric have not always worked in my home so it has moved from the master, to the sitting room, to storage, back to the master, and now in here. Now that the red sofa is gone I can use it in here again. Only thing is if I want to change up the colors in here I will have to switch the chair out again. I may get it slipcovered one day.

Here's the front view and I added one of my leopard pillows.
The chair has this cute pleat and button detail on the skirt.

I changed out the gray and white rug with this brown plaid Dash & Albert rug that was stored since the gray and white doesn't go with the chair fabric.
I also replaced the blue/gray leopard pillows with this other patterned pillow from the Pottery Barn outlet awhile back that were also, you guessed it, stored away. Easiest thing to do for a new look is change out pillows and to keep from having too many pillows to store I like to just get new covers to swap out if possible.
I like how the toile pillows still work with different patterns.
I went to a new to me shop and bought these over sized decorative wooden beads.
I really need the rug to be a bit larger, but I have to make sure the the walkway to our room isn't a trip hazard.
This has to stay clear.
So now I have a new look with just a few things swapped out.
Have an amazing week!
You can check out the room with the other chair and rug here.

I love the chair in that room. It goes with the sofa perfectly and the whole room has a really pretty soft traditional vibe.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cyndy!
DeleteI like the shorter chair there much better. I love the fabric/colors on that chair! That would work in almost any room in our home - those are my colors. Neutral with aqua/turquoise accents and just a bit of dark brown - brown is my black! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks Tina. I like brown, too.
DeleteI love, love how you did the room!! It is perfect!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHow great that your entire home is harmonious enough that pieces can move from one room to another.
ReplyDeleteIt sure makes it easy to move things around. Thanks
DeleteLOVE the new switch out! Esp. the plaid chair and the leopard pillow.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou sure do, and it looks great. As always!!
ReplyDeleteI love that coffee table. I'm a sucker for short and chunky.
I love the feet!!
Have a great week Kim. xo
Thanks Shannon and you too!
DeleteI like how you can move and switch out pieces and it always looks great! This chair looks comphy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila. I'm glad I can move things around, too.
DeleteKim I really love this new look, soft neutral, warm and inviting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathysue!
DeleteLuv the chair swap Kim. The details on the chair are yummy. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gee!
DeleteBeautiful!! And you always give new meaning to the phrase "shop at home!" I Can't wait to see where the beautiful natural linen chair with the nailhead trim winds up. As pretty as it is, it blocked the view into your room and the plaid chair with the lower back is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a very tall chair and it did block the room from the foyer. Thanks
DeleteYou always manage to move things around and make them work beautifully. Love the chair in there. Your furniture pieces have such classic shapes that allows them to work in so many places. Enjoy your week!

Thanks Shelley!
DeleteKim, the plaid chair is just right! Your switch-arounds always look great! Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam. I am sure there will be more switch-arounds. :)
DeleteOh so pretty! Perfect for the hot summer months to come. What a cool, calming, relaxed feel this room has. How do you continuously make the right choices?! Perfect colors. I love the chair. It compliments so well. The rug is a great choice too. I like the clean look of the open wood floor to your bedroom. And Miss Bailey, she could never bomb a photo! She's the icing. She makes the room look "human!" 😉
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry. I'm just the crazy lady who keeps on tweaking. I'm glad Bailey makes the room look "human"!
DeleteI love the chair as it is. Please leave it there for awhile. It goes so well with everything.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marjorie. I am sure it will be there a good while unless something wonderful just falls in my lap which I'm not counting on. :)
DeleteKim, I admire the way you like to move things about and tweak a look for your rooms. We recently did some chair swapping here as well. Only problem is now we need to put one chair in storage. '-)
ReplyDeleteI swoon every time I see those gorgeous toile pillows. I keep thinking I'll find some similar fabric, but still searching. Have a great week.
Sarah, I have too much in storage now and need to start purging!
DeleteI do love this chair in the great room!!!...I have always been very fond of that beautiful chair..Love that cute pleat in the back!...I also love the lower profile. Everything looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks my pal!
DeleteAbsolute perfection and beauty. The plaid chair was a brilliant idea, and I adore the rug. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael Lee!
DeleteI love the chair in there- it looks perfect with everything! I so love the plaid and button. I'm a plaid girl:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy. I have a slight thing for plaid, too!
DeleteI love the chair and the leopard pillow with it, a great combination. You are an expert in swapping things around, the only problem being that you have inspired me to do the same!!! I started gently just moving things around within the sitting room, but now I can see I need to be more adventurous and move things from room to room. The only problem being that in our old house nothing fits up and down the narrow ancient staircase and so we have to open the hatch upstairs and use an ancient winch and pulley system involving a giant metal chain, whereupon the furniture is slowly winched up. It sound bizarre but it works!
ReplyDeleteOh, my that sounds like quite the ordeal to move things.
DeleteI love the sweet little detail on the chair and, as always, the wonderful combinations that you come up with for your pillows. It's really fun when the colors in a home blend from one room to the next, it allows so much more flexibility in moving things around to give rooms a fresh look for no money or at the very least not very much. Thanks for showing how easy it is to make my home feel fresh without breaking the bank! (I can't wait to start decorating again!)
ReplyDeleteHugs, Kimberly
Thanks Kimberly! I can't wait for your home to be finished and watch you bring it to life, too.
DeleteLike I always say, everything in your home is lovely and can go anywhere, but I must admit, every new change you do, seems to be better and better!
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks Vel!
DeleteGorgeous room! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe room looks lovely! (I bet you wish you could return the other chair!) I do,however, love the grey rug from West Elm and hope you can find a good place for it in your home.
ReplyDeleteThe family room is less formal now, and the 2 chairs look balanced. Good thing you have lots of extra furniture to pick from! Please keep your photo bomber - he completes the room. Hope he's all mended now !
Love that chair and it is so perfect in your room.
ReplyDeleteI love the chair in this room too. It is so light and airy for Spring/summer. Love the rug too. Beautiful! I sure hope Mr. Savvy helps you moving this furniture!! If not how the heck do you do it???
ReplyDeleteI think that chair works so well in there. hopefully you can still incorporate your color and keep the chair...but then again what fun would that be if you could'nt change it up and move another chair in here! have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLove the plaid chair, Kim, and the cute pleat and button on the skirt. It looks awesome in your great room.
ReplyDeleteHI KIM! Wow, how pretty! Your once-bedroom-chair works perfectly in your great room. I really like the serene touches of soft aqua. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteThe chair is perfect in your great room. I miss the red sofa but the lighter sofa gives you so many options to use your pillow stash. I'm sure red will show up in the cooler months, lol. You have such great design style and I always look forward to your posts.
ReplyDeleteI love it all! Beautiful Kim!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this room's whole new look! It is so soft and inviting - and the chair works really well! How great that you have so much "back stock" to pull from!!
ReplyDeleteSheila
That room is so inviting. I'm in love with the button detail on the plaid chair.
