Gosh, I haven't shown y'all the other guestroom since installing the new carpet upstairs. The lighter color and pattern are so much better than the old dirt colored carpet. :)
The lighter carpet makes the whole room feel brighter and cleaner. Lots of blue and white in here and of course some pattern mixing.
The only new thing added are the polka dot pillow cases from HomeGoods.
I love to mix patterns and the small dots, blue ticking and blue checks all work well together.
The bird pillow that I shared in here before still works and another small ticking pillow sits in front.
I brought the white lamps back in for the summer. I got these at HomeGoods a couple years ago.
Hydrangeas and knockout roses clipped from my yard and tucked in an old enamelware pail speak summer.
Blue is spread around the room with this little pale blue chair and checked pillow.
Blue ticking was added to this side of the room by changing out the lampshade.
Vintage baskets sit to the right of the chest holding pillow covers in the bottom one and extra pillows in the top one.
Blue and white work all year, but I especially like it in the summer.
Do you incorporate blue in your home?
It looks beautiful Kim!
ReplyDeleteA lovely guest room...blue always works for me!
ReplyDeleteI agree...the blue and white is so fresh for summer. Love the buffalo check pillows! Sheila
ReplyDeleteVery fresh for summer. I am coveting the mirror over the bed. Where ever did you find that beauty?
ReplyDeleteI found that at an antique shop and I painted it. Thanks!
DeleteLooks so beautiful Kim!....love those cute polka dot pillowcases!. I do love the pop of red of the knockout roses too!...the perfect Summer guest room that any guest would enjoy to be in!
ReplyDeleteYou know I LOVE blue and white and have it all over:) Your guest room looks great. I wish I could change our carpet to a berber and I love the pattern of yours.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, Girl I love that room. In our last house, our guest room was also blue and white and I loved it. When we moved here, we decided to hang one of hubby's dad's oil seascape-so that dictated other colors. It isn't as nice as the old decor, but that is o.k.; we don't have guests too often and I wanted to honor my fil. Thanks for sharing; I also have to say I love the polka dot pillowcases.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Noreen
I love blue and white! Also blue and yellow. My bedroom is always some shade of blue. For 15 years I had a navy blue dining room with white woodwork, china cabinet and french doors. (It is now blood red with all that white.)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful room, Kim. Love the blue and white.
ReplyDeleteThat carpet is really nice--the pattern gives a nicer texture than a uniform, plain carpet.
ReplyDeleteBlue is husband's favorite color, so we have lots of it. Summer lasts a long time here, so blue and white work well.
Very fresh and inviting. I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove this room! The carpet is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely! Perfect color combo for summer - btw, where could I find your carpet? I really admire the pattern!
ReplyDeleteBetty, it is by Mohawk. Just look up mohawk.com and then look up weardated and then you can scroll the looks.
DeleteVery serene Kim. Love the little pop of red from the flowers.
ReplyDeleteWe use blue in every room it is one of our favorite colors.... our home colors are yellow, blue and cream.... both my wife and I find these colors very calming and peaceful... that being said we are going to be using RED in our guest room at least for a while.... try something new, we have never used red before in our home but have always admired it from afar..... our home is painted Candlelight a soft yellow in all of the public rooms and we are going to paint that color in the guest room also... so the simple answer to your question is YES we use blue but then I ramble on .....lol have a awesome day... we are going to be enjoying a nice 97 degrees today down from 106 yesterday ...... the heat is on here in Northern California! Blessings to you and yours.... Curtis & Sherrie
ReplyDeleteI use a bit of robins egg blue as our home is mainly neutrals with shades of aqua/turquoise and taupe browns.
ReplyDeleteI adore it! It's my new favorite room in your house. I wish I could find some pillow slips like that. Unfortunately Home Goods has not made it to OK.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Love the whole room and the blues!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty and inviting room. Love that two toned dresser too.
ReplyDeleteLove the blue and white Kim! It looks especially cool and fresh for summer!
ReplyDeleteI love how this room has evolved. The new carpet makes such a difference. You're a master creating the right balance with the pillows. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI love the different blue hues used on the bedding. That bird pillow is adorable! Such a pretty room.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Kim. I love the hydrangeas & roses in the white tin pot...very summery...red, white & blue. I have the pot and the roses...hope the hydrangeas are at the store! Our bedroom carpet is similar to yours and I just love the white. Everyone takes their shoes off at the door, I don't even have to ask.
ReplyDeleteI love the bucket full of hydrangeas and roses so much I painted it.
ReplyDeleteI'll share it with once I'm done.
