And no, I'm not talking about on me. I'm talking about my latest furniture transformation. This piece has been wearing the same outfit for over five years and she was in the need of a new look and they say every room should have some black so my hutch got a new black dress.
I took some before shots before I broke the new color out.
I paid a visit to a local store to get some paint and some embellishments to dress the hutch up a bit.
The plain door panels needed a bit of jewelry so I had Mr. Savvy apply these wreaths by Efex Trims that Mary Anne at Brush Strokes by Mary Anne carries in her stores and on line.
These are the coolest things that are made of latex and you apply them with cement glue. I let Mr. Savvy do this part because he is a perfectionist and I knew he would make them perfectly centered.
The colors on the door panels are all the same color yet they are a bit different after adding layers of colors and distressing and waxing. I used milk paint in the color Artissimo along with the Graphite chalk paint.
The arch got dressed up with some gold, too.
After painting the Efex trim with paint I took some gold gilding paste and rubbed it on with my finger.
The inside was already blue, but I painted a coat of Artissimo milk paint over it to deepen the blue a bit. I love how the blue pops with the black.
And the inside of the doors.
Even the ironstone pops more.
At first I didn't distress the black, but it just looked too new and sort of blah so I decided to go ahead and age it some.
Full look at the dining room soon.
If you live in the metropolitan Atlanta area you can find all your Annie Sloan, Miss Mustard Seed and Efex Trims products plus more at Brush Strokes by Mary Anne in two locations one in Roswell and one in Cumming or order on line.
The hutch looks fantastic...like a wonderful aged antique. I love the trim that Mr. Savvy added and you embellished. It truly glammed up the piece. Such a dramatic statement in the dining room now....can't wait to see this beauty in person one day!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your site. Where can I find similar dining table & chairs? Love them & been looking for some time!
ReplyDeleteThe table is several years old by Hooker and I painted the apron and legs. The chairs came with a different table and I painted those too. Those chair are now gone and replaced with new ones. Just buy a table you like and paint the bottom of it. Thanks
