I have a thing for vintage European breadboards and started collecting them a few years ago. When I was at the Country Living Fair I lucked up on a new one to add to my collection. I also found this wonderful large ironstone bowl in the same booth as the houndstooth wingback chair that I bought and added to the sitting room. So I put my new finds in a vignette on the breakfast room table.
Some of my other old breadboards hang on the wall.
This board is a bit smaller than my other round ones and has wonderfully worn and beat up.
It even has some worm holes. The more wear the better for me.
The ironstone bowl also has wonderful patina and crazing.
I took this photo in the sunroom in the brighter light.
This is the maker's mark on the bottom. Anyone know this mark?
The bowl is such a nice size and I think I gave $50 for it. I added my little cow creamer and an ironstone pitcher for a collected vignette.
That is the last of my CLF finds. Soon I will share a couple of finds from Franklin, but
now, I need to take more things to the consignment shop. :)
Have an awesome weekend!
Have an awesome weekend!
I like to keep my centerpieces simple, so love this one!

What a beautiful find! I love the bowl, and your little cow creamer just is the perfect touch! Your dining area is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim--I know very little about maker's marks but I googled the maltese cross shape and found this -- http://www.trentonhistory.org/Made/Marks.html -- scroll down to the International Pottery Co. section for the one that looks similar to yours. I enjoy your creativity and your blog in general, by the way! Very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteSusan, thanks so much for the info!
DeleteHere's the scoop: your bowl is semi-vitreous porcelain, and the initials on your bowl stand for International Pottery Company. It's an American pottery company that began back in the 1800's or so in Jersey. It changed names, went through several different markings, and yours is a "later" marking. I'm not the genius...lol! My mama is:) Btw...LOVE the houndstooth chair!!! Now I can't decide if I want to do that, or plaid...
ReplyDeleteWell, aren't you the smart one, Cindy. Thanks!
DeleteLove the love the cow creamer... Never seen one like it!! Is that a Country Living Fair find?
ReplyDeleteLove your finds especially the breadboard. Your room is so bright and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteAlways love your eating area and this simple and sweet vignette looks amazing. That pottery is gorgeous. Happy Friday.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Adore the new finds! Beautiful vignette and I love those cutting boards on the wall!!!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly did very well in finding great treasures at the Fair. Love the bowl and breadboard. Great additions to your collections!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour new "old bowl" looks great in your kitchen. Gosh, now we have to wait 12 more months before the next CLF!
ReplyDeleteLove that old bowl! What wonderful patina on it. They make a great vignette.
ReplyDeleteSweet vignette! Sure miss your red/white checked cafe curtains...one of these days I'm sure you'll bring them back!
ReplyDeleteBetty, the red checked curtains are gone and won't be coming back. :)
DeleteI love the breadboards on the wall. Warm and appropriate for the space!
ReplyDeletei just have to laugh! We go crazy for the "farmhouse" look her in the USA but about 15 years ago my husband and I spent a week on a working farm in Poland staying with my late father's ancestors after I did a genealogy search and found them and developed a relationship with them. Their old "rustic" farmhouse style wares looked lovely- until they served me a cup of tea in an old stained cup. Vintage is nice to look at but not to use.
ReplyDeleteYou hit the jackpot with your finds...houndstooth chair, breadboard, and ironstone bowl...a very good day!
ReplyDeletelove your wall and the new bowl and bread board.
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT OLD piece. I won't even tell you that I had stuff set aside to go into storage and my husband (who is lucky I didn't kill him after he survived cancer) took his GRANDMOTHER'S BREADBOARD to the dump. I wanted to slash his truck tires. Honestly!!!! The one you found is really a nice one and the Ironstone bowl has the well-loved look, too. Perfect-simple and sweet. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and charming vignette. After seeing your collection of breadboards I an on the hunt. I love the look.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds Kim!
