Simple is the name of the game in my Christmas decor this year. It only took me a few minutes to add some touches in this room to add some Christmas cheer.
A small preserved boxwood wreath rests on the vintage boot forms.
Wrapped gifts under the table.
Found this cute plaid reindeer paper while out of town. I knew it was the perfect colors for this room.
A wooden bowl, filled with split peas as a filler and a candle tucked in, surrounded by a white pine wreath. I saw the idea of the split peas many years ago in a Christmas home tour. Easy and cheap.
Plaid pillows in red, cream and a touch of green from my stash.
A bottlebrush wreath tied to the vaisselier that was already filled with green and white dishes.
More plaid and a cozy throw.
A stocking made from a grain sack and an old Santa who's head is loose.
A little red cardinal.
Just those few additions was all the room needed. This is how I would really decorate the room even if I wasn't a blogger.
Below are a couple of shots in the late afternoon after the lamps come on and the room takes on a warm glow.
Oh, I can so relate. Last year I got rid of, and consolidated a few containers of Christmas décor. This year, all the things I used around the house came out of one consider. Simple... tasteful! As I get older, I am all about easy and tasteful. Not over the top!
ReplyDeleteLuv your simple décor on the sitting room Kim.

ReplyDeleteI just love everything you do.
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to say "less is more," and in your sitting room, it's the perfect amount. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm liking simple better and better every day! Your "simple" decorating is beautiful, Kim. Guess what? Abi doesn't want to put her right foot down again. We're off to the vet in the morning. Same leg (ACL) as the one this time last year. How's Bailey doing with hers?

Kim...I am so happy I discovered your blog. Your tastes are very similar to mine. Your room is beautiful and classic. I love seeing your home and exploring your blog.
ReplyDeleteI too am going my simple. At least for now since grandchildren are not in the picture for a while as both our boys are in grad school out of state.
Thank you for all the hard work you do to provide such great inspiration.
I too love the simple look and I think this looks perfect, plaid and cosy blankets are always a festive winner and I love the little box wreath on the boot trees. We haven't even started decorating in France yet!
ReplyDeleteIt's simple but very tasteful and it just say Christmas is hre without shouting, the way I like it! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love your home! Beautiful, classic, traditional. Just the perfect amount of Christmas decor, too!
ReplyDeleteSimple but still oh-so-beautiful! Love that boot form!
ReplyDeleteI was slow to read this post, but thought I'd add that I, too, love your simpler style for this season. Less is usually more and I'm all for it. Your sitting room is already lovely, and just those few additions make it nicely festive and not "in your face." I have to admit, as a horsewoman, it was the lovely wooden boot trees (as they're usually called) that caught my eye. Whether vintage or more recently made, the wooden ones (vs plastic) are much coveted by serious horse folk for keeping one's tall riding boots in shape (and so attractively, at that) when not being worn. A friend keeps his tall boots on display, not in a closet, when not in use...a nice touch in his elegant equestrian-style home.
ReplyDeleteThanks for continually inspiring with your style! Have a lovely holiday season!
