Did y'all survive the cold weekend? We didn't get the snow we thought we would and I was very disappointed. Maybe next time if there is a next time. Of course just a few miles away they did get snow. It's funny how we will be back in the low seventies by the end of the week. We just go from one extreme to the other. Today we are going into the room we basically hung out in all weekend by the fire.
When I last shared the family room, or great room as we call it, it was decorated for Christmas and the furniture arrangement was changed so I could place the tree in the corner by the fireplace. I thought this would be a temporary arrangement, but Mr. Savvy likes it this way and said it feels cozy. So for now it stays in this layout. The decorations have been put away and I thought I would share how the room looks now.
This is the first winter with the new neutral furniture. I'm having fun adding color with the accessories and I do NOT miss the red furniture that we had for fifteen years.
The chairs now sit where the sofa sat and vice versa. We had to move everything out and back in since the rug had to be turned, too.
I brought in this English drop leaf table from the sitting room for a better fit between the chairs than the round table. I placed a tray on top to protect the top of the table, but not sure it's staying.
Color and texture is added with pillows and fruit.
Stacks of book and and a plant also add texture.
I'll probably be curled up with my fave books by the fire this weekend as we are expecting a winter storm.
The sideboard is still in the same spot and this is my view from my cozy corner I shared last week.
The only thing I changed was the art.
I kept the pine cones and antlers in the concrete garden urn from Christmas. Works well for winter.

Have an awesome week!
of course that room could do no wrong, but really like this layout. I like how your windows are more exposed now. so pretty. Why did i think you had a tv in here?
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Kim. This is my favorite look ever (so far!). You are a master at accessorizing. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this layout!
ReplyDeleteKim, I really like this arrangement, I agree that it looks cozy!
ReplyDeleteBoth are pretty, but I really like this one.
ReplyDeleteLove this arrangement! All of your Winter textures are fabulous and so cozy!
ReplyDeleteI like the chair/ottoman moved to that room.
ReplyDeleteWe did have snow, but I wasn't excited. It didn't get here Friday like they predicted though so we ran errands, went to our favorite lunch place, grocery store, etc. Saturday we didn't leave the house, and I cleaned out one linen closet, one bedroom closet and kitchen drawers! Fun times!! Hubby has been building/installing shelves in the attic. Only took him 20 years to decide he needed them! Warm temps mid - late week - can't wait!
Kim, I love the new layout. It looks cosy and airy at the same time due to more of your windows and the outside being visible now. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove this arrangement!
ReplyDeleteMr. Savvy is on to something! This looks great! Of course, it's always pretty but I hope this hangs around a while! 😀 Not that it's any of my business! 😂 You have such a beautiful home and such wonderful taste! Love how the windows can be seen and appreciated! Awesome look!
ReplyDeleteMary from Virginia
this looks great, and it seems to work in the room so much better as it offers a welcoming feel.
ReplyDeletecan you share from where you purchased the rug?
thks
sonja
sonja, it's a Dash & Albert rug from annieselke.com. Thanks
DeleteI love this new arrangement and think Mr Savvy is on to something! Love the beautiful pillows of great color!...It is super cold here but at least the sun is shining!....Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and I love all your winter vignettes. I kept my pine cones out too. They are always great for texture. I am loving all the neutral furniture in there.
ReplyDeleteShelley
It looks great arranged that way. Love the pine cones and antlers...perfect for winter.
ReplyDeleteI really like the new furniture arrangement! I agree, it is very cozy.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim - Love the new furniture layout. I especially love it because you can see more of the windows and I like walking into a room and seeing a console table instead of the back of a sofa... Love the bowl on your coffee table with the oranges, source?? Love all the neutrals with pops of color and texture.
ReplyDeleteStacy, it's a vintage tian bowl. Thanks
DeleteThank you!
DeleteThis arrangement is very cosy!! You have inspired me to change my family room. Will do it this coming weekend!
ReplyDeleteI like this arrangement too!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever decide it's time for your sofa pillows to go, I would love to buy them. They would be perfect in my family room. I have been having trouble finding anything for our sofa.
Karen, the two on the left are from Pottery Barn and I believe both are still available. Thanks
DeleteLove the natural light you get in this room. It is so pretty and cozy Kim.

What a lovely welcoming space.
ReplyDeleteI love the new arrangement better. It looks really so
ReplyDeleteReally fresh and inviting, Kim! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely room! so bright and cheery, yet so classy!
ReplyDeletePretty...I like the new a bit better, it seems like the couch there balances that fireplace wall, but then I am a fan of symmetry. Both are nice.
ReplyDeleteKim, this room would be a winner no matter how you arranged the furniture. I absolutely love the two story wall of windows. Would I ever love to have that kind of light!
ReplyDeleteI think I like the arrangement as you have it now. I like the sofa table behind the sofa as it faces the fireplace. The urn of pinecones and antlers looks perfect for winter. I may copy that idea.
Roller coaster temps here too. '-)
I love both, Kim. I would have a hard time choosing just one. You are blessed to have an option. My Great Room sofa can only go in one spot. So I play with chairs and tables! Your room is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBoth are very pretty, but I think I like the new arrangement better. Sitting on the sofa you have a perfect view of the fireplace and having that great club chair next to the fireplace makes me want to stay there all day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the arrangement Kim. Sometimes it's hard to make a large room with a tall ceiling feel cozy but you've succeeded. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the room like this, makes room brighter and lighter.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY like this arrangement and agree it looks cozier. Love those beautiful pillows too. It is very cold here too, but going to 60 by Thurs. But that comes with rain for the next 6 days:( UGH:)
ReplyDeleteamazing how your neutral furniture totally changes the feel of this room. I'm totally in love with your sofa, pillows too! it's all just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWinter here Never looked so calm and élégantly relaxed.
ReplyDeleteLove every bit of what you have gathered together and arranged, as well as displayed with the lack of colour to a splash of colour that doesn't complicate your room. It's truly a room to love.
I personally love that basket under the sofa table, I know you may say "That of all things?"
I love it all, but that basket caught my eye and intrigues me, wishing it were mine.
Have a beautiful winter week.
Xx

Your living room does look cozy! Just want to plop down, pick up a book or two and while away the afternoon.... ahhh!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and cozy Kim, and I love the arrangement.
ReplyDeleteI like both, but I do slightly prefer this one. I also love the English drop leaf table where it is, perhaps because I am English and love this type of table! Isn't it funny how we all long for the white stuff! We have snow forecast this weekend, fingers crossed, I am as excited as the children!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your new arrangement!! I think your awesome eye for decorating must be rubbing onto Mr. Savvy! He's right the room looks very cozy with this arrangement. I love the two chairs in front of the windows, it seems brighter now. I also really like all your white furniture. Makes the room very light and bright and you can easily change the color scheme of the room just by changing the colors of the accents and pillows! As always, very nicely done Kim!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the fact that the new lay out leaves more open space in front of the windows.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I live at Lake Tahoe and got your snow and everyone else's! Taking a break from shoveling to catch up on your wonderful blog. I like the new look in the family room. Mr. Savvy has a good eye!
ReplyDeleteI never knew that people in the South would be disappointed if they didn't get snow! LOL! When we get a good Northern blast that's "lake effect", I'll give ya a call and invite you over:D Whoo-hoo! Great room looks fabulous btw;)
ReplyDeleteI like this one better. Very nice.
