Farmhouse style has been all the rage the past few years and of course farms and farm houses have been around forever. It's so easy to add farmhouse style and today I'm sharing what farmhouse style is.
It's mixing patterns and colors that you wouldn't thing work together, but they do since farmhouse style is about not matching.
It's old worn out quilts and a chippy bench.
It's cute art.
And maybe some cows.
It's a metal bed, layers of bedding and planked walls.
Old grain sacks can add a European or French farmhouse vibe.
The only thing new is the navy and white plaid pillow which I found several weeks ago at HomeGoods. It is huge and came with a very heavy feather insert and I bought it for a song and works perfectly in this farmhouse style guestroom.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Beautiful examples and descriptions of farmhouse style, and you do it so perfectly! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and comfortable. It works so well with a lot of American architecture--the white farmhouse with a big porch.
ReplyDeleteYou do Farmhouse style with perfection!....Love, love those rooms!!! Have a great weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a post on painting the armoir? I am very interested in the color you have achieved and would like to know what colors you used and in what order. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo, Linda, I'm afraid I don't. When I started painting that I didn't stop to take pics and write down each step. It just sort of happened.
DeleteKim, I just love this guest room! So warm and welcoming. So pretty, yet relaxed. So light and bright, yet with bold color. Perfect!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim! You always do such an amazing job with bedding and bedrooms as a whole. Your beds always look like the perfect mix and are so inviting! You should write an e-book on styling beds. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your carpet. I'm looking at different carpet for the bedrooms and wondered if you would pick this carpet again? I'm looking at something similar with a little darker jute color.
Nancy
Yes, Nancy, I love this carpet. We put it in the master first and then upstairs. Thanks
DeleteKim your guest room is always a favorite of mine, and of course your sunroom too!!
ReplyDeleteHaving grown up on a proper working farm I love farmhouse style and so much of what you say really is exactly as it was in England when I was a child. Things don't need to match, but they do need to be comfortable and inviting. I love this post, really great ideas for everyone. xx
ReplyDeleteThe blue and white is pretty. I Love the green picture with the dog...so cute.
ReplyDeletejust love this guest room and the blues that you have introduced.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the next big trend will be when this gets old. Remember when the country look was the rage in the 80's? I call his one Country Chic. My grandparents had a farm and their house didn't look anything like this but they did have a planked or ship lap wall.
ReplyDeleteLove the look especially the dog picture. Do you remember the source?
ReplyDeleteLinda, it's from minted.com. Search Pit Stop.
