After purchasing the farmhouse table during my trip to France in 2013 I have been on the hunt for a set of French chairs to go with it. I used the chairs I had used with my old table until I found the perfect ones, but they were quite large compared to the size of this table. This antique table is narrower and shorter than the average American table so I needed some French chairs in a smaller size.
While shopping on ebay for the hutch in the dining room I came across this set of chairs sold by the same seller. They were a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I knew they would be perfect and they could be shipped with the hutch.
Of course my French table and chairs required a French style vignette.
I bought this enamelware pitcher at an antique mall a couple of months ago and it was only $30. I kept looking at the tag to see if a number was missing on it. I ran this baby to the counter for them to hold while I kept shopping.
I love the French blue color of the pitcher. I had the other items on hand.
I love the carved details of the chairs.
Something cool I discovered while cleaning the chairs is the seats are not attached. They just rest on the base with no screws. When a seat popped off it scared me until I realized that was how they were made.
Hi Kim! Every time you share a change, I think, "wow, it can't be any better" Then, of course, you change things again and of course, it is better, lol. You really have a gift! Your new chairs are stunning and so lovely with the table. It can't get any better - at least until the next change! Jane
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks, Jane!
DeleteThe chairs are beautiful, Kim! I love how the stain on them is darker than the table too.
ReplyDeleteShelley
Thanks, Shelley.
DeleteKim, these chairs are definitely the perfect ones for your table. The space is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pam.
DeleteI'm not sure I could cover up those rush seats with cushions! The room is beautiful - i really like the picture and sconces on that wall, and the gold lantern. I can't remember if you have ever had a rug in that room, but I wonder if you have tried one? It's a lot of "wood on wood" and I'm just curious how a rug would look. Maybe, maybe not?! LOL
ReplyDeleteFor comfort they will be better. It will be a bit before I get them made. I did have a rug for a short time, but didn't like it.
DeletePerfect chairs for your table. Case closed!
ReplyDeleteI think so, too. :)
DeleteThe chairs are gorgeous. I love them. What a pretty combination the table is now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marty.
DeleteGorgeous. Are they southern Provençal? They are similar to what my French family had. I love natural wood tones. ❤️
ReplyDeleteSheila, they are from southern France. Thanks
DeleteKim those chairs are so perfect for that table!! I love them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Penny.
DeleteThe set looks perfect! Let's hope you never, never, ever tire of French Country!
ReplyDeleteThanks and I hope not.
DeleteThey go really well with the table. I have to admit that I don't find straw seats comfortable (though they are very authentic) and you will be glad to have cushions.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I hope I can get some custom ones made.
DeleteCan you tell me what the name of the steer picture is?
ReplyDeleteThe pastoral? I bought that years ago at an antique store.
DeleteThose do look quite perfect with your table. The blue pitcher is wonderful- what a great find!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liz.
DeleteBeautiful marriage of table and chairs Kim. Luv the sweet carving detail.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gee.
DeleteThey are perfect, Kim!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie.
DeleteLove it all, the chairs are perfect with your table, I can see the patina of the wood even in the pictures, like a glow in satin. The cow and cutting board really speak to me, I am not sure if it is my love of cutting boards and black and white, but I am drawn to your little fella, I hope he has a name!! He is perfect!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathysue and no, I haven't named him. I really should. :)
DeleteI love each little detail of your centerpiece - I might just copy it using my blue metal pitcher, but I'll have to use a pig instead of a cow.
ReplyDeletePerfect, I can picture a beautiful meal being served. Love your style.
ReplyDeleteWell I must say that the French pitcher found you as it looks fabulous on the table with those great new/antique French chairs!....Love the way that the breakfast room has evolved over the years since that incredible farmhouse table arrived from France! Everything is looking mah-va-lous!!!!! Happy Friday....see you soon!
ReplyDeleteLOVEEEE those chairs! It is all so beautiful to look at.
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are beautiful and yes, perfect! My table is not from France or an antique but it is smaller than usual kitchen tables too; narrow and long. But for the 2 of us it works great. I love the detail on your chairs and that the seats come off!!!! Great find!
ReplyDeleteLove the new chairs Kim. They go perfectly with that beautiful table.

ReplyDeleteMiss Bailey makes the perfect.
Love the chairs, they do go so well with the table. The blue of the pitcher is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOMG those chairs are just insane!! Maybe my favorite of your furniture pieces....they are amazing and worth whatever you paid for them. NICE!!!
ReplyDeleteThose chairs were just meant to be with your table. You were right to be patient and to order them.
ReplyDeleteLove your new chairs and they look great with your table, and vignette looks great.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get your lavender, it looks so real! I need to get some of it!
ReplyDeleteMary, I found that at Hobby Lobby. :)
DeleteI bought out Hobby Lobby on the lavender, and use it all over the house in summer. It’s unbelievably realistic. Your chairs are perfect, but if you haven’t had cushions made yet, and don’t make your own, check out Darcy’s Etsy shop @gratefulhome. She’s a miracle worker!
ReplyDeleteYour chairs are the "bomb", I love them! I agree with your plan for cushions, it will protect the seats from too much wear and they are always a lovely way to change with the seasons. Marie
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are beautiful as is but can't wait to see the transformation
