I finally got around to sprucing up the front porch last weekend. I found some potted lavender plants and a gorgeous pink hydrangea while shopping at Costco so of course I had to buy a couple. I love using my vintage fruit picking bucket for different things and this time hung it on the front door and tucked a lavender plant in it. I have a very small front porch and like to keep the decor on it simple.
The large potted hydrangea was one of only three left on the shelves. They were only $19.99 and will be transplanted to the yard later. Right after I grabbed mine another couple grabbed another one which left one. I'm sure it was quickly scooped up, too.
Miss Bailey's cousin is getting older and gray like us. I think she needs a dye job soon like me.
Happy Thursday!
Looks great Kim. I need to freshen my porch up. I purchased two hydrangeas from Costco as well but mine are smaller. I ended up planting them in hopes they will survive. I can't say I have seen any hydrangea planted out here in Texas.
ReplyDeleteI kept one of those pink hydrangeas in a large pot for a couple of years, then planted it. Hope your front doesn't get too hot for it. I saw a ton of those at Kroger (of all places) the other day.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore your vintage fruit picking bucket. Such a clever idea to hang it on the door and fill it with it with flowers. If your porch gets a lot of sun, be careful because hydrangea don't like to dry out and tend to prefer shade.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know all about hydrangeas and I'm keeping it wet. Will move it later. Thanks
DeleteLooks great Kim! I have a small porch too! I love the planter for the lavender! laura
ReplyDeleteThat kind of lavender is called lavande papillon, or butterfly lavender. Very hardy! I've had some for years in pots on our terrace.
ReplyDeleteYour porch looks wonderful.
Love it!!
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I love that vintage fruit picking bucket!....I hope it is securely attached to the door as I may have to do a "drive by"! Love the porch!!!...I love the dog with its gray showing through!!!
ReplyDeleteThe vintage fruit picking bucket is perfect for the front door filled with sweet smelling lavender!
ReplyDeleteI'll be very interested to read how that hydragnea does on your porch. I've read that hydragneas do well repotted into large "annual" pots for a season. However last year I bought three rather expensive ones, put them into my large outdoor pots (think the size of a whisley barrel) for the summer with the intent of enjoing thir blooms for the summer an fall and then transplanting them into the ground in the fall. They did not do well in my pots were almost dead by fall. I was SO disappointed. They were well fertilized, watered and had bark chips on top and still they did not do well in our Michigan spring/summer/fall. I did put them in the ground come fall and I see they are leafing out now, but I think I set them back a year or two (or more) that way. Never again! Donna at the Small House Homestead.
ReplyDeleteLove that bucket filled with lavender!!
ReplyDeleteI love that bucket!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better.
You found two of my favorites!!! Hydrangea and lavender. I love them both and they look great dressing up the front porch.
ReplyDeleteHope you are recovering and not in too much pain. It must drive you a little nuts to have had to 'slow down' a bit as you recover. Happy Thursday- xo Diana
So pretty! I love the idea of the bucket on the door!
ReplyDeletePretty! big fan of lavender and have it growing in several spots including the whole side of the driveway. Is miss bailey's cousin a schnauzer? I would love to find a statue, we so miss our little kirby.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that big bucket of Lavender!!
ReplyDeleteSimple and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love your approach to door design. Love the unusual idea of using the bucket for a container and filled with lavender!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I'm in love with your gorgeous hydrangea!
ReplyDeleteLove that bucket and the hydrangeas on the stoop. Your front door is so pretty. When I make door arrangements, I glue a felt pad on the back side to prevent scratching.
