When I shared my new chippy, chunky and raw sofa table the other day I mentioned that it took me a few tries to style it. The styling part does not always come easy for me. Sometimes there are several attempts and they just don't work or feel right to me. I wish you could have seen Mr. Savvy's face while I was wheeling around on my scooter grabbing this and that and trying out different accents.
I tried to use the concrete urn like I had on the old table, but as you can see this table was beginning to sag. Okay let's try something else.
I grabbed my ironstone bowl of ivy and set it by itself first, but it was too small so I grabbed some old books and trophies and created a vignette.
So next I not only changed the vignette I grabbed the lamps from my bedroom and tried those. Which I liked, but the lamps from the table were way too big for the master.
I tried the dough bowl and then the tian bowl while the mister is sitting there in his recliner rolling his eyes. He's used to this going on though.
Thanks for letting us peek at how your decorating mind works. Creating vignettes is my favorite thing to do, but I end up wasting the whole day with indecision. I really love the sofa table... wondering where it was purchased?
ReplyDeleteThank you and yes, it's a crazy mind at work. :)
DeleteThe table is from houzz.com.
Thanks for info.
DeleteI do this every single day. lol It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing you in action!
ReplyDeleteI love this!...I do this so very often that I do not not to admit how often!...I do love the books and bookends there...they give the table a great feel of textures and a pop of color. We all know that the table will have another look soon! :) Thank goodness you have that scooter!!
ReplyDeleteLove the table Kim and I think each way that you styled it looks perfect. Oh those husbands and the eye rolls...haha!
ReplyDeleteThat is my biggest issue in decorating! Deciding! I start out a project and change my mind so many times before I'm through. The older I get, the harder it is!
ReplyDeleteKim, I think if most of us if we were honest do the same thing. The table is a great find for your space and I am sure it will be styled many ways in the future and they all will be perfect!
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice! I love the old books.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing how other people create and style their spaces and why. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha. Luv this!!
ReplyDeletethe books are my favorite choice. But I also luved the bowl of ivy and the book stack.
What fun. It's like trying on clothes, but for your home.
ReplyDeleteI love all your lamps.
It's a bit like Goldilocks! You know when it's just right!
ReplyDeleteI like the simplicity of the books it doesn't detract from the rest of the room! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteThe eye roll comment is priceless. My husband recently went on a business trip for a few days and I stayed up late every night moving things around. The eye rolls stifle my creativity... haha....
ReplyDeleteI think the books are the best option! The concrete planter is too similar in size and shape to the lamps. I like the ironstone bowl grouping also, but the books are best (IMHO). You remind me of my MIL. She is pretty active and gets out and about, but she does not need to have much time at home (she is alone), as then she is constantly noticing things she THINKS need doing - and right then. Which usually results in a phone call to my hubby. . . . LOL!! She is NOT good at relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing but usually have an idea of what I want to use for a vignette. Sometimes it works and sometimes it just doesn't. Good to see your ideas! Hope you are healing.
ReplyDeleteFrom here the lamps seem to overwhelm the table...maybe just one lamp and balance the other side with stacked books and something on top? just a thought.
ReplyDeleteHow many times have a changed something after looking at photos. It is the best way to really see what works... BTW... I liked them all. xxx...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vignette is the one with the trophies. But they all look lovely.
ReplyDeleteI could picture you rolling and bringing more and more things to the sofa table for the vignettes while reading the whole post!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you did a true confession...I am constantly tweeking things. Just glad to hear I'm not alone. Is there a group or dome thing I could join? Your table is gorgeous....but I liked the old one too! ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the final results. Sometimes I have to leave a vignette or re-arranging a couple of days and then a light goes off and I can get it right.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mothers Day.
Mary
I like all of them...but the white bowl with ivy just inspired me to use my bowl like that. Off to purchase some ivy. :-) sheila
ReplyDeletehey , hope you are doing better these days. i just love that sofa table. it's perfect and of course although i love this look, we all know it will look different in a couple of weeks ! :) hugs
