I hope y'all had a nice weekend. Ours started out great and then yesterday at 5 a.m. miss Bailey vomited twice on our bed. Oh, man what a mess and what a way to wake up! Poor baby threw up mainly liquid or bile a few more times during the day. We ended up at the ER vet and it was her gastroenteritis acting up again. It's been years since she was that sick. After a shot and some Pepcid to take at home she should be fine.
Summer decorating is underway and just a few simple changes was all it took to add summer style in the great room. As you will notice the most obvious change is over the fireplace.
The big bird painting was hanging in the master bathroom, but I had been wanting to try it over the fireplace. I loved the mirror that was here, too and may put it back later. For now I like the statement the bird makes.
I'm using the same patterned pillows I shared for spring and added these fabulous ticking pillows I found in this Etsy Shop. I got them in the navy ticking first for the sunroom and I had to have them in the brown for this room.
I love the details added with the ruffled trim.
The floral pillows are from this Etsy shop.
Hydrangeas from my one bush are blooming like crazy this year so a few have been brought in.
I babysat my granddaughter Leila one day last week and she was hanging out in here with her ipad.
Summer items like Japanese floats and a clam shell were added to the coffee table.
I placed an urn on one of the bookshelves and tucked in the air plants I have had for a couple of years now. If y'all want very easy to take care of plants get some air plants. You can't kill them.
On this bookcase a piece of coral was added and a new plant in the urn.

A basket full of old bottles the color of the sea adds summer on the sofa table. See more of this look and the new lamps in this post.
A simple sea fan tucked in one of the vintage boxes and layered art add summer touches on the sideboard.
I took this picture of the seagull through a restaurant window on a very foggy Martha's Vineyard a few years ago. I love to pull it out in the summer.
Hope y'all have a fabulous week!
The ticking pillows are perfect with the floral. I have the look.
ReplyDeleteThe wonderful painting, along with the blue bottles and other blue touches give the room a beachy, Hamptons vibe. Which is a high compliment.

I love the touches of blue and the bottles. I really need to lighten up my family room for the summer...Today and tomorrow the temps are supposed to be in the 90s so I will be craving lighter surroundings. Cranking up the air today! Enjoy your week, Kim!

ReplyDeleteOh poor Miss Bailey! I do hope she is feeling much, much better! It's so hard when our babies are sick. I finally sewed up pillows in that same fabric (had for ages LOL) - the floral - for our patio furniture, along with a couple in a geometric fabric. Love the ticking pillows too. For some strange reason, birds creep me out!
ReplyDeleteI love the ticking pillows. Thank you for telling us where to get them. I love supporting Etsy businesses too. I'm going to get the ticking pillows in beige. Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteJust right! Love those blue bottles.
ReplyDeleteJust couldn't be any prettier, Kim.

I'm so sorry about Miss Bailey! We also have a Yorkie named Sadie who has stomach issues! We've been told she has pancreatitis but now the vet seems to think she really has allergies to fat content! She only gets food they've recommended! Only treats are same food but I put it in toys so she thinks it's a treat! No problems in almost 6 months! Prayers for Miss Bailey!🙏🏻🙏🏻
ReplyDeleteWhat size are the ticking pillows you got for your couch? I'm thinking of ordering them also but was curious as to size you got! They look great!
Thank you, and she is feeling much better now. She just ate for the first time. Chicken and rice for a couple of days. She prefers the chicken.
DeleteThe pillows are 22 x 22.
Just gazing at your room put me in a summer mood. Nice touches Kim!
