With the house being in master bath renovation construction mode my creativity to do anything has been squelched until I took up all that nasty pink paper that was protecting the floor and I cleaned up the dust and grit. As I was looking at the boxes sitting in the dining room I realized I was ready to make some changes so I started fluffing the dining room.
I was ready to change out what was on the table by creating a new vignette.
I actually came up with the vignette idea after replacing the giant clock with this pastoral painting that was in this spot before. My paintings like to be displayed in different locations and this one has certainly made the rounds and is now back where it started out. The clock has been relocated in the perfect spot which I'll share later.

After removing this large slatted wood tray from under the sideboard in the great room I thought I'd use it on the dining table again and just put a vignette together with things I had on hand.
I used the candlesticks that were already on the table. I will probably pick up some candles, but at the moment I only have the battery operated ones and I can't stick those on those prongs.
I brought these silver birds home from my dad's and decided to add one atop a stack of vintage books and set the other one below it. I guess they are guinea hens or maybe bob whites as a reader informed me or they could be partridges. I'm not good with birds. :)
My china that was inherited from my maternal grandmother adds a little color.
Old Pottery Barn napkins grabbed from a drawer.
The old demijohn adds to the French style theme of the vignette.
It felt good to get some creative juices flowing again.
Happy Total Eclipse Day!
Very pretty, as always! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm searching for gray and white buffalo check fabric for my dining room curtains. Have you seen anything like that?
Love the vignette Kim.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine your frustration with the dust and turmoil of the renovation; however, you always seem to find a spot where you can unleash your creativity and make something pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt is always nice to accomplish something while construction is going on. Looks good, and I'm sure it felt great.
ReplyDeleteI think the birds are Bobwhites....not Guinea hens....
I hope you have a great week,
Nancy

Oh, is that what they are. I'm not good with what birds are what except for the common ones around here. Thanks
Deletethey maybe pheasants
DeleteI love that painting....did you paint the frame? Those little silver birds are perfect for your vignette!
ReplyDeleteThe table vignette and the painting make a nice change-up for your dining room
ReplyDeleteSo inspirational!!! We are making a huge move and lifestyle change, hopefully very soon, and had to remove all the charm from our home to make it a blank canvas for potential buyers - I cannot wait to unpack my treasures after the move and create a similar tabletop vignette in our new abode. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Kim. I found an old demijohn last week at a nearby antiques mall and it was VERY inexpensive. I don't think the seller knew what he had:)
ReplyDeleteI have some very similar vintage brass birds and I believe I read on Ebay (or somewhere) they were called partridges. There was a time period the brass ones were very popular. I have not seen silver tho - cool!
ReplyDeleteOh my, guineas, bob whites or partridges. I bet you are right. I should just say birds whatever they are. ha ha
DeleteOne has to wait for that creative urge to hit! Love your table center piece. Reminded me that I don't have any of that fabric that you have underneath. I need to find some because I just love it.

So pretty Kim!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Kim! Trying to get the creative juices flowing over here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Kim!
ReplyDeleteI guess you have already checked Calico Fabrics for your buffalo check?
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful. I know how you feel with the dust and mess. We has a powder room and a small bath redone and the stuff was everywhere, the boxes, the toilets, sinks, tile, dust etc. We are getting ready to have another bathroom completely redone and then next year the master.
ReplyDeleteLove your fluffy of the dining room. It looks gorgeous Kim.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Kim! It's great that you can have fun being creative with the renovation going on. I am sure it keeps you sane!

Hi Kim - has anyone asked where you got your chandelier from? It's beautiful. Thanks, Janet
ReplyDeleteYes, several have. I bought it at a local store years ago, but I believe you can find it on line. It is by Quorum, I think.
DeleteAs always, Kim...very stylish!
