It's fall tour time and if you just came from Jennifer's at Celebrating Everyday Life I know you found some beautiful inspiration there as she is a fabulous stylist! If you are new here, welcome and I hope you will return again. This week several of my fellow bloggers are opening up their homes to bring you lots of ideas to welcome fall in your home. There will be a new group each day to bring you more inspiration and don't miss the giveaway information at the bottom of the post.
Today I'm sharing what I call the softer side of fall in the master.
To me fall means adding layers and making our homes cozy for the shorter cooler days. I love to change up the bedding each season and our bedrooms should definitely be a cozy retreat at the end of the day. When I saw this duvet cover in the Pottery Barn store on one of their beautifully dressed beds I literally gasped. Then I was thinking that I didn't remember seeing this on their site. It's because the on line photo does absolutely nothing for this duvet cover. So I was just skipping right over it. It is so pretty in person and the softest linen blend. It looks and feels like a much more expensive fabric.
The soft muted colors of rose, pink, berry, sage green, blue, brown and more work perfectly in my bedroom. I love when I come across bedding that works with my brown walls and the soft greens and blues in the room.
Fall decorating is adding layers and texture and as you can see I also believe in mixing patterns. I love mixing patterns. Just stay in the same color family and mix large and small prints along with some solids.
I bought this pretty little vintage mirror from France a couple of months ago and never shared it since the bedroom has been such a mess with the bathroom renovation going on all summer. I had hung a similar vintage mirror over one of the guest bedroom's bed and then found this one.
My bedroom is so dark this time of year, but I opened up the plantation shutters for this shot.
The euro shams and long ruffled shams are old, but the gingham, pink, and floral pillow covers are new.
The quilted euro shams add another layer of texture.
I removed the white bed skirt as it was just too white and added this old ticking bed skirt that I have had for years and I just hang on to it.
I have had these dried roses for probably three or more years and they work so perfectly with the new bedding colors.
What's a bedroom without a cozy corner to curl up in with my favorite magazines or a good book?
I bought this sage green throw years ago in Savannah, Ga. I love the herringbone pattern. The green velvet pillow cover is new from Pottery Barn. I originally planned to use it on the bed and then plans changed.
The sun starts coming in this room very late in the day and doesn't last long.
At the other end of my dresser is this old chair and another pillow matching one on the bed. Y'all I scored big time on these pillow covers. They were originally $49 and I got them for $14! They are sold out.
I ordered the monogrammed pillow cover recently from Farmhouse on Boone after seeing one on instagram.
The last of the hydrangeas from my bush are tucked in an ironstone pitcher.
This is the mirror that used to be on the mantel. It works great as a full length mirror. I need it just to make sure I don't have on two different colored shoes or toilet paper stuck somewhere...just kidding.
Actually with the new bath remodel and the new higher counters all I see in the mirror is from the boobs up. Ha ha!
Here is a different view and there's a tiny peek into the new bathroom.
I will share that reveal soon.
That's my softer side of fall master bedroom.
Now, I'm going to send you on to Rhoda's at Southern Hospitality for more fall inspiration and I hope you will check out the other fabulous links below and check out the giveaway.

Hello Kim!
ReplyDeleteGreetings all the way from sunny Johannesburg, South Africa. I have followed your blog for sometime now and you never fail to inspire. You have a truly beautiful home and are an enormously talented and creative spirit, which I'm sure matches a beautiful soul. It is wonderful to know that there are still people who believe your home is your haven of sanctuary, that your surroundings do matter, that you can create prettiness from almost nothing, you don't have to be wealthy, and that we may derive great joy from even the smallest aesthetics.
I hope your foot is well healed now. Thank you for sharing your home and creativity with us. You're an inspiration.
Look forward to your winter wonderland.
Love 'n hugs, Leanne.
Leanne, aren't you too sweet. Thanks so much for your kind words and for being a long time reader. My broken foot is better, but still having some issues now with the ankle area of the same foot. Hopefully that will feel better soon. Yes, you can make a few simple changes for a new look without spending much money if any. I always look for deals when styling the house or I don't buy them.
DeleteYour bedroom looks sooo inviting, Kim! Love the softer side of fall.... sigh! Well, pinned a ton and pinned the pumpkin giveaway, too. Would love to win some! <3 Great score on the pillows!!! Love the new comforter/comforter cover, too!
