I'm hosting dinner on Christmas eve for my family and I have been coming up with ideas for the table setting and this is the one I will be using after changing things a couple of times. Do y'all do that? It is set early so I can share it here, but I will take all the dishes, glasses and flatware off and clean them and reset it on Christmas eve so everything is nice and clean. And yes, there is a tree in here this year that I love and I will be sharing that in a separate post soon.
I used gold chargers that I purchased last year at HomeGoods and then added a white plate trimmed in gold, a salad or dessert plate, which is the china I inherited from my grandmother.
The only thing new is the glittery poinsettia picks that I ordered from Balsam Hill. The site said they are blue, but they really aren't. They are more green and white with silver. I am using blues in here and added blue ornaments on the flocked tree and was hoping these were blue. I was going to stick these picks in the tree, but decided to use them as the centerpiece instead. I used a piece of white batting as a blanket of snow and I have candles ready to be lit on Christmas eve.
I poured epsom salt in each French yogurt jar (yes, yogurt jars I brought home from France) and then tucked a tea light in each one. The white napkins are monogrammed in white and tied up with a French blue velvet ribbon.
I ordered this French blue stocking in October as I was planning ahead for Christmas. It was the start of using French blue in here this year and I got it before I knew I had a tree coming for this room. I attached a string of bells found at the Country Living Fair this year with the blue velvet ribbon.
I have had this St. Nick for a few years and at first I could not find him, but finally came across it in the bottom of a bin.
My favorite vintage French ticking pillows sit on the host chairs.
I will also have to set the breakfast room table and maybe one more as there should be around seventeen of us.
Stay tuned for the flocked Christmas tree which I'm loving in the dining room and I think my family will to as they dine in here.

I so love this simply elegant table Kim...Your grandmother's china is definitely the star of the table. Even though the florals were not the color you were expecting, they are so beautiful on your table...the perfect "just right" centerpiece. Love the sneak peek of the tree...can't wait to see the full reveal!
ReplyDeleteAww, I love the blue!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing is the stocking. We bought a new tree for the bedroom this year and changed to a flocked tree - so pretty! I think blue poinsettas would have looked strange. These are more natural colors.
ReplyDeleteThey were supposed to be a pale silvery blue.
DeleteGorgeous table setting. I like the gold plate as a charger
ReplyDeleteThat is a gold charger and thank you.
DeleteKim, what a pretty table for Christmas Eve dinner! I love the French blue velvet ribbon.

ReplyDeleteStunning- the unexpected yellow chargers take your Christmas table setting from simply pretty to absolutely fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty, love the blue velvet ribbons around the napkins and of course the yoghurt jars! They are so useful, we use them for any number of things, plus we get to eat the delicious yoghurt too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table and I love the stocking! Can you please share where you found it? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteUrsula, I bought that from dreamywhitesonline.com, but it was the only one.
DeleteThanks
Your table is sophisticated and celebratory -- my kind of table. I love the stemware and the velvet ribbons.

Awe,thanks!
DeleteYour Christmas table setting is so lovely! What I like most is that the snowy poinsettia centerpiece you are using is low lying which wont obstruct visual sight lines and hinder conversation.
ReplyDeleteI adore blue abs white so I'm crazy about that Santa on the hutch. I really love your dishes, too!
