Welcome to my simple summer refreshed sitting room. Say that five times fast. I made just a few updates in the sitting room for summer. Heavy darker fabrics were put away months ago and replaced with lighter ones. The darker dishes displayed on the French vaisselier are now all white. And even though this room doesn't have a lot of blue in it I was able to infuse a touch in here with pillows.
Ironstone plates and some of my sugar bowl collection replace the majolica and the green and white dishes.
As you can see my assistant joined me, but she isn't much help.
She would rather watch the cars go by.

Vintage French ticking pillows and these pillows with blue in them lighten up the sofa and add the touch of blue I have been incorporating throughout the house.
A few months ago I decided to add this lighter rug in here that I removed from the great room and I was just trying it out over the bottom rug to see if I wanted to use it in here and I just left it that way. The lighter rug also brightens up the room.
I was also just moving things around and thought I would see if the vanity stool would fit under the English table and it does.
Can't ever go wrong adding greenery and flowers to a room. I just placed these in one of my French confit pots. Try using different vessels for your arrangements.
Old books fill a garden urn.
A few months ago I bought this rubber plant and it is doing so well in this corner. I try to water it once a week, but sometimes the poor plant gets forgotten.

The artwork basically doesn't change in here. I have changed out some gallery wall pictures over the years and had sconces at one time, but otherwise it stays the same. All the artwork is old and collected from different antique shops.
Miss Bailey and I hope you have a great week!
It's amazing how we can just move a few things around and really change the look. My favorite takeaway here is the urn with books in it. What a fun and old world idea. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pillows on the couch. Miss Bailey is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI really like beige/tan with blue. Your room looks bright and cool, just right for summer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful room Kim. I love your gallery wall.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Kim.
ReplyDeleteKim, I have always loved this room and your refresh was just the right touch!

ReplyDeleteWell I said it 6 times! :) Love the lighter feel of the room with the addition of the rug and those fabulous pillows...and the Vassilier is the crown jewel of the room! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe pillows on the sofa really add a lovely touch!
ReplyDeleteI love the touches of blue...so summery to me. Looks like Miss Bailey approves too!
ReplyDeleteha. that is a tongue twister. that room always looks so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI think what I love most about this room is how comfortable it looks. There’s nothing you have to remove or fuss over. The colors are also so warm and inviting. In this age of whitewashed rooms, it’s so refreshing to see a beautiful piece of wood furniture like that amazing vaisselier (new word for moi!) with the warmth and richness only wood can provide. Your summer touches like the crisp white dishes make it look fresh without sacrificing the warmth. Beautiful! Your Miss Bailey reminds me so much of my late Lola. They really are the cutest dogs. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks perfect for this transitional time between summer and fall. You still have tourches of blue, but the golds and neutrals are so great for August. I am working on making similar transitions in my home. Love your "Savvy Southern Style!"
