Christmas Great Room

Did y'all have a good weekend? It was crazy cold and rainy here and just plain yucky. I really would prefer a pretty snow, but just for a day or so and then it can leave. Looks like today is another gloomy one. I hope the sun returns soon so I can take a few more photos of my Christmas decor to share.

Today we are touring the Christmas great room. I kept things very simple this year by just adding some greenery, pine cones and lights. I didn't even change out the pillows this time. I love the ones I was already using so I kept them out. They are the same ones I've had out all fall. Yep, pretty long for me. Sometimes just a few decorations is all that is needed.

Christmas Great Room

This is the view from the breakfast room with the sun streaming in through the foyer.

I put real cedar garland on the mantel this year and it was so beautiful until it dried out and it has been replaced with a faux garland. It's a good thing I took these shots while it was still fairly fresh.

I hung a preserved boxwood wreath I already had on the mirror. I used a Command Hook.

I enhanced the fresh garland with some extra greenery pieces I picked up at a nursery. Then I added some tallow berries I ordered from ebay.

I added my carollers to the bookcase and tucked a little tree in an antique box. Lights come on the tree at night.

Loving my new vintage grain sack stockings and I hung the bronze sconces back up and adorned them with greenery, tallow berries and ribbon.

I always fill some kind of vessel with pine cones for my Christmas decor. This year I used the tian bowl and added some fresh greenery and a couple of leftover ornaments.

My collection of antler sheds and some greenery are tucked in the vintage concrete urn behind the sofa. That urn is so extremely heavy that we just leave it there and change out the contents.

Battery operated lights add some sparkle to the fireplace.

On the chest on the other side of the room I replaced the greenery in the confit pot with Christmas greens and added more of my Santas on a platter.

With just a few adornments the room is holiday ready.

After a very cold and rainy weekend here's to a new week!

  1. It all looks so great! Love the little lights in the fireplace.

  2. 5. So pretty Kim. I do love all the light you get in your great room. That pretty bowl with the pine cones and ornaments looks so pretty on your table. Love those little sparkle lights in the fireplace too. Hope Mom is doing a little better.

  6. Very pretty! I like to just enhance our room with Christmas touches. Our bedroom tree is in a basket also. I hate your fresh greens dried out so quickly. We decorate too early for me to even try them, now I'm glad I don't! LOL And I see your ribbon hasn't arrived?! Bummer! I "hung" a couple of smaller wreaths on mirrors but am now kind of wishing I had done one on the mirror over the fireplace also. Hmmmm, I suppose
I could still add one! LOL Merry Christmas!

  7. Everything is beautiful!

  8. Your great room is simple elegance at its best! Just adding a few Christmas touches along with your gorgeous tree and mantel iserfect!

  11. Could you tell me the name and brand of your floor? It’s beautiful!

    1. It is very old and was by Armstrong Hartco that I don't think exists anymore. They are Santos mahogony and you can find that at another flooring company.

  12. Beautiful! Love every detail, especially the greenery and tallow berries on the sconces which has a lovely old world feel.
