French Country Christmas Sitting Room

How is your week going? Are you completely done with getting ready for the big day or are you like me and still have some things to do? I still have a couple of gifts to buy and then I need to wrap it all. I may bake, but I'm not sure as I will most likely be the one eating it and I truly don't need to.

Today I'm sharing the French country sitting room with just a few simple decorations to add a touch of Christmas cheer.

I tucked three small faux trees in the large urn and added some pretty gold ornaments.

The gold deer pillow is old from Pottery Barn and I love the elegance of it.

I found these ornaments at a local home design shop I happened upon and they look like an ornate metal design, but they are very light weight and shatterproof.

Real cedar garland was added to the top of the hutch and there is a tiny string of fairy lights on them that come on and go off each night. That cedar has just about seen its last day.

The chalkware sheep I found last year adorn a transferware platter pulled from the dining room hutch.

A pretty Christmas tree pillow adorns the French style striped chair.

These were by the other chair, but miss Bailey has a mishap by this chair which made a stain so I just placed the boots here. Oh, that dog and her tummy.

And this chair has a special adornment. She likes to turn her head when she knows I'm taking pictures. Silly girl.

This is an old Santa I have had and his head was even coming off, but we glued it back on.

When we have sun it pours in here in the morning.

Enjoy the busiest week!

  1. My favorite room in your house looks great. Love the pillows and the trees in the urn. Beautiful ornaments too! Have a great week!!! Merry Christmas, Kim!

  2. I just love the way you decorated this year Kim.

  3. What a charming holiday room. Your mix of darker stain furniture balances the room so well. Happy Christmas!

  4. Poor Miss Bailey! Our vet prescribed pepsid for tummy upsets. Just get the wrapping over and done with - you'll be glad! Shopping, etc. has been done here but cleaning and cooking remain before we host on Tuesday. I will be doing more baking the following week for New Year's Eve. We have just been enjoying the holiday events the past few weeks. The countdown is on!!

  5. The urn is stunning. Going to look for a couple of faux trees to fill my inherited double walled silver water pitcher which is only useful if you have a six foot tall weight lifter for a butler! It hold two gallons when filled! I put a real tree in it this year which is already shedding pine needles everywhere. Your urn is so very elegant!

  6. A real beauty of a sitting room all dressed so beautifully for Christmas!.....the room just sparkles with the wonderful natural light...Miss Bailey obviously loves this side of her face for the camera! And I love that deer pillow too...I wish PB would bring it back!...Have a Merry Day Kim!

  7. Hi Kim,

Happy New Year too. May the new year bring better health for your mom and may you have lots of new and fun adventures to blog about in the new year.

  8. Beautiful as always, Kim! My Finn does the same thing. He just doesn’t like to get his photo taken. Lol Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas!

  9. Ha! I have some relatives that turn their head when I'm taking photos! Love those metallic ornaments that you found. Everything looks fabulous! Merry Christmas, Kim!

  10. I love this room... do you mind telling where you got your beautiful urn with the Christmas tree in it? Have been looking for one like that. Thanks!

    1. Jan, I purchased that several years ago from One Kings Lane. Thanks
