The Brighter Master Bedroom Reveal

3.25.2019

I coud have titled this the power of paint because the room has certainly transformed with the new brighter color. Now, I walk in and go ahhhhhh. Seriously everything looks better in here now whereas things blended in with the previous darker color. This room can be pretty dark through the day until the sun gets around to this side of the house and the old dark paint didn't help that any. Now this room is so much brighter and even Mr. Savvy made the comment, while we were painting, that the room grew. It does feel bigger. This room got a whole new look without buying all new things, too.

Welcome to the brighter master bedroom reveal.

I love how the brown antique armoire pops now. My $230 Craig's List find really stands out now.

This is the view coming in the room. Even the color of the antique French commode looks better.

The bedding is layers of white, creamy white, flax and lots of texture. The Sweet Dreams pillow is a new purchase and it's by Talor Linens and purchased through Wayfair.

After hanging the French pressed botanicals over the chest in the foyer I had to move the painting that had hung there which created a snowball effect. I moved the painting to the dining room which meant this mirror had to move somewhere and I love it over the bed especially with the white walls.

The flax linen shams in the back have been around and used over and over.

Look at that long flowy ruffle. I love the romantic feminine feel they add.

The duvet cover is also one I have had from Pottery Barn and I believe they still carry it.

The quilt adds a bit more textural white. I love using the pickstitch quilt from PB. It washes and dries great and that's important when it's white and there is a dog sleeping on it.

Hubby's nightstand hasn't changed even though I would love to find more of a French style piece down the road. I'll keep hunting.

This is my side of the bed. I added this little antique chair from the fireplace after we made the mantel over. I didn't want anything blocking the new mantel. It's perfect in here.

I placed a bamboo tray on the French commode and added books, a candle, a plant, and my reproduction Santos cage doll.

I'm so glad the multicolored faux painted ceiling is gone. The painter did a great job on it, but it was time for it to go. The ceiling is painted White Dove instead of the French Canvas like the walls as we were running out of paint and I had plenty of the White Dove and the colors are very similar. I'm glad we went that direction. I always get asked where the chandelier came from. I'm afraid it has been discontinued.

We moved this chair back in here from the great room.

I picked up this cute lightweight throw at Target when I was there for other things. I just had to take a look at the new home decor.

I hung this vintage oil painting on the old shutter by the chair.

I will definitely be having sweet dreams in this serene room.

And this is the photo I shared on instagram last week before I switched quilts. I love the color even more at night with the lamps on. Instagram is really the place to be for tons of inspiration. Hope your following me there.

The new wall color is French Canvas and I have used this color in the kitchen, great room, foyer, and one of the guest bedrooms. The very top ceiling is White Dove and the trim stayed the same color as before, but was refreshed and it's Chantilly Lace. All paint is Benjamin Moore.

Hope y'all have an awesome week!

  5. It's gorgeous. Lighter, brighter and bigger. You two are an amazing team. Now take a rest!! One question, I believe it's French Canvas on the walls, is the Dove White the sort of "tray" part of the ceiling and then the actual flat ceiling is a true white? I'm just trying to figure out the actual color of French Canvas before I consider using it. Thanks! Cathy Temple

  15. Lovely and serene. One question: how do you hang heavy mirrors like this one above your heads so that you are really sure they won't fall down some night while you are sleeping??

    1. We have it hanging on a Cesar hook that is good for 40 lbs so it should be good.

    2. What are Cesar hooks Kim? I've only heard of the Hercules hooks which are what I use to hang heavy objects.

    3. Cesar or Hercules, whatever they are all the same. I probably got the wrong name. ha ha

  20. Your bedroom looks beautiful! I love the dust ruffle on your bed. Do you remember where you purchased it & does it have split corners?

    1. I bought it last year from and Etsy shop and yes, it is split. I don't recall the shop, but just search linen bedskirt on Etsy and you'll get lots of sites. That's how I find things on there.
