French Country Guest Bedroom Makeover Reveal

7.08.2019

The long holiday weekend is over and now it's back to normal life and normal routines. Mr. Savvy took off most of last week to extend his holiday and he worked on our backyard some. His clothes were so wet that you would have thought he had been sprayed with a hose....gross! Hopefully some landscapers will show up soon to fix and add to our sprinkler system and they will lay some sod in the back where we now have dirt. While he worked and sweated outside I have been updating inside where it's much cooler.
Today I'm sharing the French country guest bedroom makeover reveal.

The first thing I did, just out of the blue, was to paint this room a pale silvery blue. I had not planned or even thought about painting this room, but all of a sudden I was at the paint store picking out paint and then I got right to it. The paint color is Silver Mist by Benjamin Moore.

I'm really loving the update. The French Canvas paint was turning funky colors in the light in this room and I just didn't like it in here. I love it in the other rooms it's painted. It's in my master, the kitchen, great room, bonus room, and foyer.

After painting the room blue I decided I wanted to try different bedding so I checked out Pottery Barn and found this duvet with lots of soft colors and it was on sale plus free shipping. It will be fun to change out the pillows for fall. I brought up the two blue pillows from the great room as they go so well with the duvet. Of course that meant I had to add differnt pillows in the great room and I pulled some pillows from the other guest bedroom and then moved some I had intended to use in here and put them in the other guestroom. Did you get all that? Anyway I shared what I put in the great room on instagram a few days ago.

Lots of colors to work with.

Long ruffles, tassels and shorter ruffles make for a yummy bed.

I shared the hutch makeover last week. I swapped chairs from one guestroom to another. I like this pale green one in here with the greens in the duvet and the green in the back of the hutch.

Here's the chair without the hutch door in the way.

That's one room update done and I have been working on another project.

This week is filled with appointments that have been planned and now I will need a dentist appointment since I broke a tooth last week while the dentist was on vacation. Pretty sure another crown is in my future.

Y'all have a good one and keep cool!

  1. It’s very pretty and feminine.Really like that duvet...but is it being used without a comforter inside? I can’t tell for sure. The whole room is inviting

  6. Kim do you usually buy a king duvet for a queen bed? So that it hangs lower as such?

  7. Poor Mr. Savvy in the heat. But, sweating is good for us!! You rarely see sod around here so I don't know much about it. They put it down in the heat of summer? Grass seed and other plantings are best done in fall here. Hope your landscapers show up soon!

We have very similar colors in our guest bedroom but neutral walls and wood floors. I like the blue on the cabinet!

  8. I love this paint color. I have to find somewhere to use it. I can't tell with the lighting if you painted the blue below the chair rail or if it's white?? The hutch is gorgeous and looks incredible against the blue walls! You've outdone yourself if that's possible. :) Cathy Temple

  10. This is extremely beautiful and I love seeing your choice of blue paint, hadn't heard of that color before. I was guessing it might have been Glass Slipper which is also an airy pale blue. Always find inspiration in your decorating Kim and this room is wonderful. Hadn't noticed that cane bench before either...very pretty.
