The Fall Sun Room 2019

10.08.2019

Now, that it is begining to feel like fall around here I've added some fall accessories in the sun room. This is the room I live in so I waited to decorate in here. It was just too hot before. I believe that was the longest hottest summer I can remember. We broke all kinds of records. We still need rain.
I love an easy elegant French farmhouse style in most of the rooms, but this one along with one of the guest bedrooms is where I can add some cutesy stuff if I'm in the mood.
Just by adding a fun colorful striped throw, a cute fall pillow and some pumpkins this room has the feeling I was going for.

A simple cute pumpkin with a long stem, it's all about the stem, sits upon a stack of design books.

The oyster shells that filled the candle hurricane have been replaced with these natural dried pieces....whatever they are called.

This cute pillow found at HomeGoods started the creative process of change in this room.

This plaid pillow is also from HomeGoods. Navy and orange plaid is the perfect fall addition.

I filled my vintage fruit orchard picking bucket with small pumpkins, gourds, apples and pears.

Of course it's all about texture and these pillows certainly add that.

I recently stripped the black paint off the top of this round pine table, but left the base black.

Dried branches and pumpkins say fall on top of this chest of drawers where all my office stuff is.

Just a few simple additions and not overly done have created the fall sun room.

I hope y'all have a great fall week!

Comments are severely down. I would love to here from y'all.
I'm not blogging for myself.

  1. I love your truck pillow! I picked up one with a green truck at Michael's recent, that was 45% off. Gotta love a sale!

    1. I blog for y'all to maybe get some inspiration and new ideas. I live here and know what my house looks like so it's not for me. I think comments are down for most bloggers. It's just changed so much from the way it used to be.

    2. Lol I rarely comment but I definitely get inspiration, and love your home and style. ♥️ For me, I am on Instagram but no longer read blogs really. Yours is the only one I still subscribe to.

  7. Kim,
I am guilty. I love your blog and have been following you for many years. I have commented a few times. That, however, does not reflect how much I enjoy your blog or how much inspiration I get from your creativity and hard work. Sometimes it has made my day. Sometimes it has sent me shopping. Your Home is beautiful and I never tire of seeing it. You and Mr. Savvy have made it a showpiece but a welcoming home. Thank you for motivating me to do the same.

  8. Your blog is one of my favorites although I’ve only commented a couple of times. I look forward to your posts. I always get inspiration from you and your style is my style. I’m afraid that blogging may have peaked.

  12. I look forward to every new post but rarely comment. I do find I’m on Instagram more than the blogs these days. I enjoy all the pretty pictures on there and can scroll through so many in a short time period. I always hop over when you have a New Post story on Instagram. I love your house and your style.

  13. I think I've slowed down on comments because there are only so many ways to say, "Oh my goodness, that's so beautiful!" I don't do Instagram, so I rely on your blog to inspire me! I finally made a Pinterest board for Savvy Southern Style just so I could find things I've seen quickly. I'm not a French farmhouse style person ,per se, but I love how you incorporate old with new and keep things fairly simple and real! Keep on blogging and if you ever are in Texas, come do my house! :)

  14. Very pretty room thanks for the inspiration! We are in the process of adding a sunroom/3 season porch to the south side of our house. I’m wondering how often you close your shades. We are debating the need for window coverings. Our neighbors are not close so privacy is not an issue.

    1. I only have shades on the three windows on the west side of the house because the sun pours in in the afternoon only and it can get hot.

  17. I love your house & look forward to your blog. I don't do Instagram so I'd miss you if you didn't post on the blog. Love that blue pickup. My friend just bought a sign like that last week.

  18. Hi Kim, yes, things are changing in blogland. I read your posts but don't always comment. My comments are way down too. I have thought about not blogging anymore but am still at it. It is cool here in Pa., finally. Tomorrow brings LOTS of rain, we need it too but I wish I could send you some. Have a good rest of the week.

  20. Kim, I get excited every time I see your savvysouthern style in my inbox. IN fact, I run to yours before any other emails. That is how much I love your home. I often come and scroll through all your old posts also. You are one of my favorites...I too do not comment all the time but I am here for every post...thank you for always making my day a better one.I love your style...

  21. Kim, I really enjoy your posts with beautiful designs. Miss that you aren’t posting as much but personally balance is more important. How is your mother doing? Caring for our loved ones takes priority of course. My husband had major back surgery, doing well but dealing with other health issues and can’t seem to find a lot of strength for home projects. I’d love to downsize! Keep up your blog please!

    1. Mom's mind is slowly getting worse. She has been falling a lot again, but no major injuries. She is in memory care.
I would also love to downsize, but not hubby.

  22. Kim,
I read several blogs, but yours is my favorite! Your decorating is perfect. Your home is so beautiful, and feels comfortable and inviting. I would spend all my time in your sunroom as well! Just perfect! I also love that I can read your posts without fighting the pop up ads. Thank you for all the beautiful eye candy!

  24. Love this room and love your style!! I wish you could see how many times your blog is accessed. That should encourage! I'll bet there's lots like me who look at blogs but don't usually comment. Blogs are still my favorite way to gain inspiration. That way I can see lots of pics from the people I love the most and don't have to scroll through all the pics I'm not interested in like you do on IG. Your blog is one of my favs! Please don't stop blogging!!

  29. I too, am guilty of not commenting - but am a faithful reader here across the seas in Beirut! I never realized I guess, all the effort in both taking pics and also posting a good story to go along with. If you hear only crickets...of course there’d be reason to doubt why you’re even doing this! Please know, we ALL appreciate your blog, and look forward to you sharing your decorating style and sweet adventure shopping stories too!

  31. Reading blogs and scrolling Insta has changed for me. I get so overwhelmed lately with (other bloggers') swipe up here and there and buy everything. I own too much already and my brain feels like a hamster on a wheel lately when I'm on social media. I need calm and peace. I like that about your blog because you're not shoving things in my face to buy. And your house is so pretty. I hope you'll keep blogging because you are one of the few I still enjoy reading. I blame Marie Kondo because she has me thinking differently about the things I buy and the calm I want in my house...so a lot of other blogs just aren't fitting with my life and goals right now. Anyway, that's my food for thought but I don't know about everyone else.

    1. Thank you, Kate. I don't like all those things either and that's why I don't do it. They all do it go make extra money and I guess if I badly needed it I might do it, but I don't. I already have too much stuff and have some cleaning out to do.

  32. Your posts inspire me at an age when I am editing my years long collections of antiques and more. You have what some folks call 'a good eye'. Keep doing what you do!

  33. It's a busy time of year and it becomes hard to comment on every post when you follow quite a few blogs and now everyone is posting to Instagram daily so I try to comment there or at least heart what I like! But, if you don't see a comment from me, please know that I faithfully follow your blog (since 2009 or so) and also your Instagram and I always love all changes you make to your beautiful home, your shopping excursions and other trips, and greatly enjoy your decorating style and skill.
