Christmas in the Sitting Room

12.19.2019

We're less than a week away from Christmas and it sure has come up quickly this year. I'm glad I had most of my decorating done before Thanksgiving this year since it was late. I normally wait until after Thanksgiving, but not this year. Of course I have been changing and tweaking things ever since I decorated.

Today I'm sharing the sitting room decorated for Christmas and I always keep this room very simple. This is like most people's living rooms that's not really used very often except Miss Bailey loves to sit on the sofa and look out the window.

I moved the French table back in here. I had placed it next to Mr. Savvy's chair, but he was being too rough with the top of this very old inlaid table. It should survive better in here.

A round doughbowl is filled with greens, ornaments and pine cones and a crock holding a tree and two brass candlesticks are all that is needed to say Christmas.

I bought this huge poinsettia at Pike's nursery weeks ago and it is doing so well. My others keep losing leaves.

This crewel pillow can be used all winter since it really isn't just for Christmas.

On the French vassielier I am using the three Christmas carollers I've had for years. They are not old, but have the look of times gone by. A small preserved boxwood wreath is tied with a white ribbon.

More leftover ornaments fill this ironstone compote.

I have just one more Christmas space to share and then I'll be concentrating on preparing for our family time on Christmas eve and Christmas day.

I'm off today with my daughter and granddaughter to go tour the Biltmore in Asheville, NC at night and whatever we decided to do tomorrow and we're staying at the Grove Park Inn for the first time.

Y'all have a good one!

  4. Please let us know how you liked the Biltmore. Joe and I went one year and were disappointed. But we are probably spoiled with Longwood Gardens. I love your sitting room and it looks beautiful at Christmas too! Ha with your family. I hope we are healthy enough to join our family: we are both sick right now. I have bronchitis and a sinus infection:(

    1. The two end ones are by Mud Pie and I bought them at a local shop. I took the cheap polyfill inserts out and added my down inserts. Thanks
