It's time to start sharing my home decorated for the holidays. Sometimes I feel late doing this because so many bloggers were sharing all last month, but I just can't bring myself to do it before Thanksgiving. I did start decorating before Thanksgiving since it was late this year and I'm so glad I had most of it done early. If you follow me on facebook and instagram then you know my mom passed away last Wednesday. It is tough losing your mom, but I'm comforted knowing she's not suffering anymore and is in a better place. If I had not stared early I would really be behind.
Here's my mad for plaid Christmas farmhouse guest bedroom.
I am loving all the vibrant fun colors in this bedding. After Christmas all Ihave to do is put away the Christmas decor and the room is winter ready.
I love mixing patterns and here you can see I have the pillowcases with cars on them, the plaid pillow and duvet and the striped pillow and it all works together.
I pulled from my stash to add some cute Christmas decor. The Santa and sleigh is a favorite old piece I bought many years ago. I set him up in the air on the stool.
More plaid is mixed together on this chair. The throw is old from HomeGoods and the pillow is old from Pottery Barn and they still sell it.
I like to collect Santas so this is a new one I found on ebay. I set him on a couple of wrapped boxes a.k.a. fake gifts. 😉
I found this cute popcorn and cranberries garland while shopping in Target. It's made of wood and I just thought it was too cute not to bring home and use somewhere.
I bought the sign a couple of years ago and used it in differnt places and now over this bed.
This is another favorite Santa I've had for some time. He is weighted and sits a bit crooked. I tucked this little artificial white pine tree, that looks so real and again is old, in a vintage blue colander.
When I first put this room together I used the navy eruro shams that were already on the bed, but I knew they needed to be red so I ordered these cordurory ones from Amazon.
Another oldie is this red wool stocking. I just hung it on the knob.
I hope you enjoyed the tour and gathered some inspiration.
Enjoy your week and call your mom if you can!
I'm so very sorry for your loss. My mother is 88 and has lived with me for the last four years and, while it can be trying, we all value having here here. BTW, I love this room too! Since my grandson arrived 5 years ago, I've become addicted to little red trucks.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Kim, and you don't need to do too much this year, you are given a pass to do whenever and whatever your up to ~ Bless you my friend
ReplyDeleteI know that you had been losing little pieces of your Mom for some years as the dementia increased. May the Lord bless and keep you. May the Lord shine his face upon you and bring you peace. I hope you can bring yourself to share some stories about your Mom along with your beautiful decorating posts.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry for your loss. May the sweet memories of your mother bring you comfort this season.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of your Mom passing away....beautiful room..
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Mom at the age of 83 11 years ago. Love your plaid guest room!
ReplyDeleteKim, I am just amazed at your ability to combine various items in such a pleasing way. I've gone mad for plaid this year especially on the front porch. Love, love, love this farmhouse guest room and you are in my thoughts and prayers
ReplyDeleteYou were such a good daughter! I remember your post about decorating her senior living apartment. You brought joy to her - just like you do for us with every post. Have a peaceful holiday.
ReplyDeleteKim, so very sorry about the loss of your mother. As always, it is a joy to open your email and to get inspired by all of your creativity! The plaid guest room is beautiful, warm, cozy and very inviting. Cannot wait to see your other rooms all decked out for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love plaid? Love this Kim and that old stocking is to die for!! Happy Holidays! Cindy
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear of your Moms passing and sending thoughts and prayers to you and your family. My husband lost his father in September two weeks after turning 90 and then his stepmother two months later. While it is hard losing both so close together we thankful they are out of their suffering.
I adore your plaid guest bedroom and might do something in this theme next year myself. This year I went very non-traditional and did metallic using copper, silver and gold with touches of peacock blue. Cant wait to see your other rooms!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to learn you've lost your Mother. This April, it will be 4 years. Not many days go by when I don't think about her and want to pick up the phone and talk with her (and my Dad too). It's very hard because they are such a part of us. Hoping she's being wrapped in the arms of our Lord.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. This room is pretty and cozy with the plaid.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to see your loss! I lost mine 20 years ago and still miss her.
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your mom. I know how tough that is. Wishing you peace and comfort this holiday season.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for the loss of your mom Kim. It does give some comfort to know she is not suffering and no quality of life. I love your plaids in the guest room. So pretty for the holidays and also for winter. Hugs.

Kim, I am sorry that you lost your mom. It's especially difficult around the holidays...seems to intensify the feeling of missing loved ones. I hope knowing how much she loved you, and you her, comforts and heals you.
ReplyDeleteAs so many others have said, I am also sorry for your loss, I was just thinking about my own late mom today, wishing she had more opportunities to be creative, she was so genuine, talented, but our culture didn't let her be herself or express her talents back then. So I celebrate you, all you have to share and all your talents and skills.
ReplyDeleteI love it all but especially the pillow and blanket on the chair. ♥️ My mother is 84 and in good health but I know that could change at any time. She lives with my sister and I have been sending cards and letters this last year, since my dad died, thanking her for specific things about her or events in our lives that made an impression on me. For instance one was how every Saturday since I was young I think about our housecleaning Saturdays and how much I loved those days. She said that one surprised her. Lol I don't want anything left unsaid.
ReplyDeleteKim, you have my deepest sympathy! I lost both parents within three years, one right before Thanksgiving and one right after Christmas. It always is on my mind every year during the holidays. I know they are not suffering, but I sure do miss them. I wish you comfort and joy for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI have lost both in three years time, too and both at Thanksgiving. Thank you!
DeleteThe bedroom looks ready for company. Nice. So sorry for loss. We can always feel better about their passing when we know they’ve suffered on this earth but are now suffering no more. It’s such a reassuring thing to know they’re with the Lord. Memories can carry you for a long time. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteAgain, I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom. I have always loved that Santa and deer. I love the plaid bedding!!! It looks great! I did my master so that I can just remove the Christmas decor and leave the rest for winter too. Have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to learn you have lost your mom. It is so difficult, esp. at the holidays. Wishing you comfort and peace.
ReplyDeleteLove the giant plaid on the comforter and all the sweetness in the bedroom.....
What an festive, invitingly beautiful guest room!
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies for the loss of your Mama. After a 7 year journey with dementia, I also lost my 90 year old Mama on November 14. It was a celebration knowing she was with my beloved Daddy again. Yet, the abject sorrow was palpable for me knowing her spirit had moved on. The struggle is real and I’m so grateful and blessed to have my loving family to prop me up when I need it.
I truly enjoy my visits to you site.
God Bless!
Thank you and I'm sorry for your loss, too!
DeleteI'm so sorry about the passing of your dear mom. No mater her condition, you only have one mom and you will miss her. Please give yourself a break from blogging to grieve as you need to. God bless you and your family and may He give you peace.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the plaid room all decked for Christmas is charming!
Kim, do you remember where you ordered your ship lap wallpaper from? Number? There are so many to choose from but I love the look of yours best.
ReplyDeleteMine is from limitlesswalls.com. He has added so much more and I think this is mine. https://www.limitlesswalls.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/102844/s/white-wood-texture-background-wall-mural/
DeleteKim, may you be comforted during this time of loss. Remember your mom with many memories of good times. It is hard losing our parents; my mother died on December 7, 1988. Your beautiful rooms surely reflect your talent. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteKim, I'm sad to read about your mom's passing. My husband has been in the hospital for a month, and I've not been on social media much of late. I had no idea. It's so difficult to accept the loss of our parents, no matter the circumstances. My heart goes out to you. I lost both my parents at Thanksgiving, though many years apart. It makes decorating for and celebrating Christmas difficult. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteYour guest room is so cozy and ready for some visitors. I hope your home is full of family for you this year.
I'm so sorry to read about your mom. It's hard anytime but it's especially rough to lose someone at the holidays. You have my sincere sympathy. I know you will miss her. I know she had a rough go of it this last year or so. The bedroom is darling as usual. You do such a great job with your decor.
