Winter White and Green Christmas Great Room

12.10.2019

This year I kept things pretty simple in the great room with my Christmas decorating. After spying some beautiful green velvet pillows in a photo somewhere I knew what direction I wanted to go in here. Thank goodness I lucked up on the last two green velvet pillow covers at my Pottery Barn store that were deeply discounted. Now, that's a win win. Add a few baubles and stockings and call it done.

Welcome to my winter white and green Christmas great room.

Normally I drape some kind of garland over the mantel, but after Mr. Savvy built me this new mantel this year I didn't want to cover it up or scratch it up which garland usually does.

I pulled out my bottlebrush trees and candles. At first I couldn't figure out the arrangement I wanted so the trees and candles kept changing until it felt right.

I added these cozy winter white knit stockings and tucked some faux greenery in each one.

I basically kept the coffee table like it was except I removed a stack of books and added the brass hurricane and candle.

I grabbed this deer and placed it on a stack of books.

The wooden bowl got adorned with some greenery, ornaments and a tiny lamb.

More little sheep fill this majolica dish.

The only new addition besides the green pillow covers is this adorable cow print. I took out the print I had in the frame and placed this one in for a super easy DIY art.

Antlers, greenery and pine cones fill the old crusty concrete urn.

This vintage style St. Nick pillow was pulled from my stash. I forgot I even had it.

An old Pottery Barn pillow adds Christmas cheer to this chair.

On these cold days we have been having a throw close by is a must and believe me the mister covers up in this nightly.

I have quite a few vintage style Santas around the house and I placed these neutral ones on a silver tray and then tucked in some greenery and candles.

I ordered a new tree this year and love this one. It's so much easier to hang ornaments. Instead of a tree skirt I placed the tree in one of my French market baskets.

This time of year we get the worst light inside, but it all comes alive when the lights come on and create a warm glow at the end of the day.

Hope y'all have a fabulous week!

  5. Those green velvet pillows are beautiful paired with the white! I always love the urn and how you fill it with each season. I really like not having any garland and just the boxwood wreath above. I put some real magnolia garland on my mantle last week and yes its already dried out so I will be going the same route as you and taking it down and just having a boxwood wreath on my mirror above the mantle. Its too hard keeping real greenery looking good after 4-5 days and you are right it does scratch up the mantle.

  13. This room is so warm and inviting. I love the simplicity of your Christmas decor! I kept my mantle without the usual greenery this year also. This calmness of our family room was much needed this year! Your Christmas tree is gorgeous!

  16. Just lovely! Doesn’t matter the season, you always manage to make that room so comfy and welcoming! I love the new tree. Is it real or artificial? I’ve been looking for something similar.

    Merry Christmas!

    1. It's fake and from Wayfair. I just can't stand the mess from a real one.
