French Farmhouse Bedroom

2.03.2020

Did y'all have a fabulous weekend? Did you watch the Super Bowl? Not me. Sorry, I'm not a football fan, but I did take a peek at some of the commercials.

We, meaning Mr. Savvy, worked hard doing the final prepping of the kitchen for the new counters being installed tomorrow. Tomorrow y'all! I'm so excited!! It's like Christmas for me! Okay, that's enough explanation points. 😄

While the kitchen, dining room, great room and foyer are a big mess I'm sharing one of the clean rooms in the house with some changes I made....of course. Just simple changes of a new wonderful striped linen duvet cover and shams. I don't normally do matching shams, but I felt like having them matching was the right thing to do this time. I love the soft gray stripes. The room really has more of the French farmhouse look I'm trying to create throughout the house and it's calm and welcoming in it's neutral state.

French Farmhouse Bedroom

The duvet and euro shams are from Serena and Lily (not sponsored), but they were on sale plus and extra off and free shipping so I snatched them up. I don't shop them unless it's on sale.

The gray pillows add loads of texture and they are old from Pottery Barn. The front pillow is a favorite and it just travels the house.

Here's a close up of the stipes. It's a really nice linen.

The only new pillow is this black and cream striped mudcloth pillow cover I ordered recently. It was finishing touch for the look I wanted.

In this corner I added a throw to curl up in and this fun pillow from my stash.

I brought these lamps up from my master bedroom since I just got some new ones in my room that I have wanted for some time. You can see one of them on instagram.

Flowers are always a good thing to add some life on these cold winter days. Even though today we will be around 70 degrees. Of course rain returns for the next three days. We can't seem to have more than a two day break from the rain.

The star of the show in this room, of course, is the cow painting I bought a few years ago and it has moved around the house, too. Moving art to a new room is an easy way to refresh a space.

This guest bedroom is guest ready with nobody coming.
You want to come over and hang awhile?

Every once in a while I sleep up here if the mister is snoring badly and my ear plugs can't drown him out. This girl needs her sleep.

Hope y'all have a super week and be sure to follow along on Instagram to get first peeks of the new kitchen. @savvysouthernstyle

  1. Kim this is beautiful. I love the stripes, I love the lamb , I love the whole room. I noticed the lamps immediatly from your bedroom and thought how perfect they look here in this room. But I do not have Instagram, so I wonder when you will post the new lamps in your room. I am fickle about lamps also and I remember you added the gold to these. Well they look great here. Thank you so sharing this morning.

    1. You seriously need to open an instagram account. You don't have to do anything on there, but look at loads of inspo. Thanks!

  2. Just lovely. I love the cow picture and I bought one which I hang in the family room. When my grown son saw it for the first time, his reaction was, "A cow?"

  10. Everything looks beautiful. Asking for a health benefit- has your hubby had a sleep study done to see if he has sleep apnea? I know it's not my business, but I was a snorer and had the study done. It showed that I was stopping breathing an alarming number of times per hour. This can cause stroke or heart problems. I use a CPAP machine now every night and the snoring is gone. Just FYI.

    1. Yes, he did years ago. Probably should again. He doesn't snore every night thank goodness and he wears a mouth piece and sleeps elevated.

  11. As always, so beautiful! I'm getting ready to re-do one of our bedrooms. I think I've pinned nearly every version of your bedrooms as inspiration! Eventually I'll figure out the right one for us!

  14. Kim, your sense of style is breathtaking. As I have none of that I try to copy what I like and what makes me happy. Your photos are helping me put together 3 new bedrooms in a new home. I would like to know what carpeting you have in this bedroom. Thank you!

    1. It's by Mohawk flooring and not sure the style name anymore or color because they change their carpet colors and names constantly. I wish they wouldn't.Thanks so much for the sweet compliment!
