Details that Create a Comfortable Guest Bedroom

3.03.2020

Can y'all believe it's March? A few posts back I shared the French Farmhouse Bedroom with it's striped linen bedding and today I'm finally sharing the other guest bedroom. It has looked like this since the start of the year so I'm a bit late sharing.

I'm keeping this room calm and inviting with cool blues and lots of white. The bedding is done in layers of white and lots of texture. In this room it's the details of tiny ruffles that make it a bit feminine. It's a pale blue hutch filled with collections of shells, coral and books that make you take a look. It's French baskets for extra storage and an extra blanket when needed. It's a chair in the corner to sit and put shoes on or to read a good book. All these things create a comfortable refuge at the end of the day.

This bedroom is the brightess in the house. It gets flooded with light until early afternoon.

I love mixing new and old together in each room. I bought the bed new a few years ago and it has an old fashioned appeal and then it's layered with bedding that is new purchased over time except for the striped pillow which was made from a vintage indigo fabric. The baskets at the foot of the bed are old. The lidded one can hold extra pillows and the one on top holds the extra blanket. Mixing old and new creates an inviting room with character.

The two bedside tables are antiques that I painted several years ago as they were in poor condition.

The lidded basket was the first vintage French basket I bought many years ago while on vacation in Florida.

This chair is a new design, but it's a reproduction of an old design. So when you can't get the real deal a reproduction is just fine.

The cow art adds some whimsy to the room.

The hutch is full of books, shells and coral and some of the shells and coral will probably be moved downstairs for the summer.

The bronze sconces are old and add a bit of a romatic feel.

I love to use old books as risers.

I paid more for this vintage cloth pillow, but I have had it for several years and it has been used in several rooms.

Here is a close up of these new shams I ordered a couple of months ago on sale. They are Pine Cone Hill. I was wanting layers of white pillows and these are actually a very pale blue with white stripes and ruffles and they are perfect in here.

I love the texture of the white euro shams.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of this blue and white guest bedroom and maybe gathered some inspiration for pulling together a room.

Have a great week!
