My Calm Place

3.10.2020

The last time I shared the master bedroom was when it was decorated for Christmas. Well, of course all that was put away and a few changes have taken place. So today I'm sharing what my bedroom looks like now and thank goodness there was some sunshine when I took these.

I love my home, as we all should, and the master bedroom is my favorite. It didn't used to be, but after painting it last year, moving things around, painting the French commode and hanging the antiqe horse painting that was my mom's this room is my calm place at the end of the day.

My absolute favorite thing in the room is the antique oil horse painting. This painting hung in my mom's breakfast room. She had a tall antique ice box in the prettiest wood and there was green and ivory wide striped wallpaper and this painting was so pretty hanging above the ice box with the green stripes behind it. Now, I have it in my home and it reminds me of her everyday.

I just love how it pops against the white walls.

To keep the room from feeling cold there is lots of textures through the bedding.

I lucked up on these crocheted looking euro shams on sale from Pine Cone Hill. I was really wanting the white ones, but they were sold out so I ordered the ivory and they're perfect. I love the details of the tiny ruffle all the way around them.

It's so hard to get a good photo of this nightstand and corner with the light pouring in, but somehow I got one this time.

These are my new French style candlestick lamps that I lucked up on before they were sold out and not carried anymore. The old lamps moved to the French Farmhouse Guest Bedroom that I shared earlier this year.

I added a bit of masculinity to Mr. Savvy's nightstand with these old leather books and glasses. The photo of the two of us together is his favorite and doesn't move. I think that was taken over thirty years ago.

Here's the matching lamp on his side.

I always love this view from the master bathroom door.

Throws are still in a basket since winter isn't quite over yet even though I know we are all trying to usher spring in.

I have contemplated changing the color of this French commode again, but for now I'm not tackling it.

I hope y'all enjoyed the updates in the master bedroom.

This serioulsy is my calm place.

  3. Absolutely beautiful and inspiring! I've always had lots of color in my home, until recently- guess I am a bit late to the neutral scene, lol- but your bedroom, entire home, actually, made me appreciate just how calm and peaceful your look is.
    Thank you so much!

  6. I too love not only this room, but your entire home! You have such a good eye for home decor and we appreciate you sharing it with us. I think the horse painting is one of my most favorite items and it looks perfect above the bed. What a wonderful way to be reminded of your mother.
